dear editor,i read with interest article that published entitled *isolation and identification of bioactive compound producing rhodococcus spp. isolated from soil samples {ijmcm/5(1) (2015) 463-468}* [1]. some of the genus such as nocardia, gordonia, mycobacterium and rhodococcus are in actinomycete family and they are gram-positive and partially acid-fast. rhodococcus species usually stain gra...

We report here the whole-genome sequence of a biodesulfurizing bacterium, Gordonia sp. strain IITR100. The bacterium has the unique ability to desulfurize both aliphatic and aromatic organosulfurs. The draft genome sequence will provide insights into the various genes and regulators involved in biodesulfurization and other catabolic pathways.

Sixty-one strains of alkane-oxidizing bacteria were tested for their ability to oxidize N-(2-hexylamino-4-phenylimidazol-1-yl)-acetamide to imidazol-2-yl amino acids applicable for pharmaceutical purposes. After growth with n-alkane, 15 strains formed different imidazol-2-yl amino acids identified by chemical structure analysis (mass and nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry). High yields of ...

Decline in the productivity of Eucalyptus hybrid cutting production in the Guangdong Province of China is linked to cutting rot associated with several Calonectria spp. The aim of this study was to identify these fungi using morphological and DNA sequence comparisons. Two previously undescribed Calonectria spp., Ca. pseudoreteaudii sp. nov. and Ca. cerciana sp. nov. were identified together wit...

Bacteriophages Phinally and Vivi2 were isolated from soil from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, using host Gordonia terrae 3612. The Phinally and Vivi2 genomes are 59,265 bp and 59,337 bp, respectively, and share sequence similarity with each other and with GTE6. Fewer than 25% of the 87 to 89 putative genes have predictable functions.
