To deal with system uncertainty, finite automata have been generalized into fuzzy automata. Stamenkovic and Ciric proposed an approach using the position automata for the construction of fuzzy automata from fuzzy regular expressions. There exist multifarious methodologies for the construction of finite automata from regular expressions known as Thompson construction, Antimirov partial derivativ...

Watson Crick automata are finite automata working on double strands. Extensive research work has already been done on non deterministic Watson Crick automata and on deterministic Watson Crick automata. Parallel Communicating Watson Crick automata systems have been introduced by E. Czeziler et al. In this paper we discuss about a variant of Watson Crick automata known as the two-way Watson Crick...

Weighted automata can be seen as a natural generalization of finite state automata to more complex algebraic structures. The standard reasoning tasks for unweighted automata can also be generalized to the weighted setting. In this report we study the problems of intersection, complementation, and inclusion for weighted automata on infinite trees and show that they are not harder complexity-wise...

Symbolic automata allow transitions to carry predicates over rich alphabet theories, such as linear arithmetic, and therefore extend classic automata to operate over infinite alphabets, such as the set of rational numbers. In this paper, we study the foundational problem of learning symbolic automata. We first present Λ∗, a symbolic automata extension of Angluin’s L∗ algorithm for learning regu...

Weighted automata (WFAs) provide a general framework for the representation of functions mapping strings to real numbers. They include as special instances deterministic finite automata (DFAs), hidden Markov models (HMMs), and predictive states representations (PSRs). In recent years, there has been a renewed interest in weighted automata in machine learning due to the development of efficient ...

The standard reasoning tasks for unweighted automata can also be generalized to the weighted setting. In this report we study the problems of intersection, complementation and inclusion for weighted automata on infinite trees and show that they are not harder than reasoning w...

In this paper, we introduce generalized directable fuzzy automaton and discuss their structural characterizations. We have shown that a generalized directable fuzzy automaton is an extension of a uniformly monogenically strongly directable fuzzy automaton by a uniformly monogenically trap-directable fuzzy automaton and obtain other equivalent conditions for a generalized directable fuzzy automa...

We consider the problem of minimization of generalized Büchi automata. We extend fair-simulation minimization and delayed-simulation minimization to the case where the Büchi automaton has multiple acceptance conditions. For fair simulation, we show how to efficiently compute the fair-simulation relation while maintaining the structure of the automaton. We then use the fairsimulation relation to...

In this work standard lattice cellular automata and random Boolean networks are extended to a wider class of generalized automata networks having any graph topology as a support. Dynamical, computational, and problem solving capabilities of these automata networks are then discussed through selected examples, and put into perspective with respect to current and future research.
