In this Letter a new class of light beam arisen from the symmetrization of the spectral cubic phase of an Airy beam is presented. The symmetric Airy beam exhibits peculiar features. It propagates at initial stages with a single central lobe that autofocuses and then collapses immediately behind the autofocus. Then, the beam splits into two specular off-axis parabolic lobes like those correspond...
Let us know how access to this document benefits you. The cavity modes of metal strip waveguide lasers are most simply expressed in terms of Airy-Hermite-Gaussian functions. The free space propagation of the resulting beam modes has been examined, and both near-and far-field patterns have been calculated and measured. Phase plates may be useful for enhancing the far-field intensity.
We demonstrate experimentally a generic method for the synthesis of optical femtosecond pulses based on Gaussian, Airy and Hermite-Gauss functions, which are transformed to exhibit fringes with tunable width. The width of the fringes is set in some cases to be much narrower than the inverse of the spectral bandwidth. Such pulses might be useful for ultrafast spectroscopy, coherent control and n...
We report experiments and numerical simulations on supercontinuum generation with femtosecond Airy pulses in a highly nonlinear optical fiber. The ability of the Airy waveform to regenerate its dominant intensity peak results in the generation of distinct spectral features. Airy pulses and other self-healing temporal waveforms may be useful for the generation of spectra with desired properties.
In this paper, we present an efficient Filon-type method for the integration of systems containing Bessel functions with exotic oscillators based on a diffeomorphism transformation and give applications to Airy transforms. Preliminary numerical results show the effectiveness and accuracy of the quadrature for large arguments of integral systems.
Asymptotic approximations are developed for zeros of the solutions Gi(z) and Hi(z) of the inhomogeneous Airy differential equation w′′ − zw = ± 1 π . The solutions are also called Scorer functions. Tables are given with numerical values of the zeros. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 33C10, 41A60, 30E10, 30C15.
Owing to the nondiffracting, self-accelerating, and self-healing properties, Airy beams of different nature have become a subject of immense interest in the past decade. Their interesting properties have opened doors to many diverse applications. Consequently, the questions of how to properly design spatial manipulation of Airy beams or how to implement them in different setups have become impo...
Because of their non-diffraction and freely acceleration during propagation, finite energy Airy beams are interesting for application such as optical manipulation, plasma channel generation and optical vortex generation. Especially interesting are tunable/switchable Airy beams, in which the Airy beam tuning by electric field, temperature or optical intensity can be realized. Here we experimenta...
The Airy process τ → Aτ is characterized by its finite-dimensional distribution functions Pr (Aτ1 < ξ1, . . . , Aτm < ξm) . For m = 1 it is known that Pr (Aτ < ξ) is expressible in terms of a solution to Painlevé II. We show that each finite-dimensional distribution function is expressible in terms of a solution to a system of differential equations.
Using some properties of the Airy functions, we analyze the re ected Brownian Bridge area Wb conditioned on its local time b at the origin. We give a closed form expression of the Laplace transform of Wb, a recurrence equation for the moments, leading to an eÆcient computation algorithm and an asymptotic form for the density f(x; b) of Wb for x # 0.
