The gam gene of bacteriophage Mu encodes a protein which protects linear double stranded DNA from exonuclease degradation in vitro and in vivo. We purified the Mu gam gene product to apparent homogeneity from cells in which it is over-produced from a plasmid clone. The purified protein is a dimer of identical subunits of 18.9 kd. It can aggregate DNA into large, rapidly sedimenting complexes an...

The experimental trial was conducted at Sorghum Research Centre, Marathwada Agricultural University, Parbhani during kharif 2021 in randomized design with 3 replications. Eighteen parental (B & R) lines were evaluated to study genetic diversities and variability for fifteen yield contributing characters. Among all the eighteen genotypes of significant differences observed its traits except ...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Upper abdominal surgeries may cause postoperative respiratory dysfunction. The objective of this study was to evaluate the pulmonary function after laparoscopic and open cholecystectomies, with and without epidural morphine. METHODS In this randomized, double-blind clinical trial, 45 patients undergoing cholecystectomies were divided in three groups: GL, GA, and GAM,...

This study's objective was to determine the in vitro antimicrobial activities of gallium maltolate (GaM) and 20 other antimicrobial agents against clinical equine isolates of Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis. The growth of cultured isolates was not inhibited by any concentration of GaM. MIC data revealed susceptibility to commonly used antimicrobials.

We develop a generalized approximation method (GAM) to obtain solution of a steady state one-dimensional nonlinear convective-radiative-conduction equation. The GAM generates a bounded monotone sequence of solutions of linear problems. The sequence of approximants converges monotonically and rapidly to a solution of the original problem. We present some numerical simulation to illustrate and co...

Strategies aimed at reducing fecal shedding of Salmonella and other foodborne pathogens may be effective for limiting transmission of pathogens from food animals to humans. The objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of gallium maltolate (GaM) against Salmonella in vitro and to determine whether oral administration of GaM would reduce fecal shedding of Salmonella in cattle. G...

Fast neuronal network oscillations in the gamma frequency band (30-100 Hz) occur in various cortex regions, require timed synaptic excitation and inhibition with glutamate and GABA, respectively, and are associated with higher brain functions such as sensory perception, attentional selection and memory formation. However, little is known about energy and ion homeostasis during the gamma oscilla...

Ga(3+) is a semimetal element that competes for the iron-binding sites of transporters and enzymes. We investigated the activity of gallium maltolate (GaM), an organic gallium salt with high solubility, against laboratory and clinical strains of methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA), methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA), methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus epidermidis (MSSE)...

The sailing tracks of single otter trawl vessels were simulated using cubic hermite spline (cHs) interpolation method based on the automatic identification system (AIS) data of 6 sampled vessels that were fishing in the Zhoushan fishing grounds after the close of the fishing season from September 2012 to January 2013.  The vessels’ status (i.e. whether the vessels were fishing or not) were dete...

Traditional Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS) methods require random sampling to guarantee valid results. However, cluster sampling has been proposed to reduce the number of random starting points. This study uses simulations to examine the classification error of two such designs, a 67x3 (67 clusters of 3 observations) and a 33x6 (33 clusters of 6 observations) sampling scheme to assess th...
