background: radiation-induced bystander effect is a response which results in damage in non-irradiated cells in response to signals from the irradiated cells. the aim of the present study was to investigate microwave-induced bystander effect from a gsm mobile phone simulator on induction of apoptosis in jurkat cell line. materials and methods: jurkat cells were divided into three groups of non-...

Background: Coexistence of Chronic lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL) to Acute lymphoblastic leukemia is extremely rare with only a few reported cases [1-5]. Chronic lymphocytic leukemia is a neoplasm of small monomorphic round to irregularly shaped lymphocytes of B-cell lineage. Adverse prognostic factors in CLL include flow cytometric expression of ZAP-70 and CD38 which are surrogate markers for the ...

B-acute lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma (B-ALL) is a neoplasm of precursor cells committed to the B-cell lineage. Extramedullary involvement is frequent, with particular predilection for the central nervous system, lymph nodes, spleen, liver, and testis. We report an unusual case of B-ALL relapsing as an isolated omental mass along with bone marrow involvement.

CD154, a critical regulator of the immune response, is usually associated with chronic inflammatory, autoimmune diseases as well as malignant disorders. In addition to its classical receptor CD40, CD154 is capable of binding other receptors, members of the integrin family, the αIIbβ3, αMβ2 and α5β1. Given the role attributed to integrins and particularly the β1 integrins in inhibiting apoptotic...

A balance between survival and apoptotic signals regulates B cell development. These signals are tightly regulated by a host of molecules, including IL-7. Abnormal signaling events may lead to neoplastic transformation of progenitor B cells. Signal transduction inhibitors potentially may modulate these abnormal signals. Inhibitors of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) such as rapamycin ha...

Purpose: To determine the effect of fresh soy milk and its compounds (coumestrol, daidzein genistein) on apoptosis in human leukemic cells peripheral blood mononuclear (PBMC).
Methods: The apoptotic (K562, Jurkat, U937) PBMC was determined by flow cytometry. from healthy donors were isolated conducting density gradient centrifugation principle. Lymphoprep cytotoxicity evaluated 3-(...

Abstract Central nervous system (CNS) involvement remains a challenge in the diagnosis and treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). In this study, we identify CD79a (also known as Ig?), signaling component preB cell receptor (preBCR), to be associated with CNS-infiltration –relapse B-cell precursor (BCP)-ALL patients. Furthermore, show that downregulation hampers engraftment cells diffe...

Early T-cell precursor leukemia (early precursor, ETP-ALL) is a new subvariant of acute lymphoblastic (ALL). Tumor blasts have unique phenotype, including signs both stem and myeloid cells. This fact significantly complicates differential diagnosis. Cytogenetic molecular biological features cells in ETP-ALL are the most important diagnostic criteria. Nowadays leading scientific international gr...

BACKGROUND Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is an aggressive malignant disorder of lymphoid progenitor cells in both children and adults. Although improvements in contemporary therapy and development of new treatment strategies have led to dramatic increases in the cure rate in children with ALL, the relapse rate remains high and the prognosis of relapsed childhood ALL is poor. Molecularly ta...

We show that HTLV-1 negative leukemia cells are more sensitive to TQ due to higher levels of drug-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS). PreG1 population in HTLV-1 negative Jurkat and CEM was higher than HTLV-1 transformed HuT-102 and MT-2 cells. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells were more resistant. Hoechst staining indicated more features of apoptosis, namely nuclear blebs and shrunken nucle...
