Fusarium head blight, caused by fungi from the genus Fusarium, is one of the most harmful cereal diseases, resulting not only in severe yield losses but also in mycotoxin contaminated and health-threatening grains. Fusarium head blight is caused by a diverse set of species that have different host ranges, mycotoxin profiles and responses to agricultural practices. Thus, understanding the compos...

Kitagawa, T., Sakamoto, Y., Furumi, K., and Ogura, H. 1989. Novel enzyme immunoassays for specific detection of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cucumerinum and for general detection of various Fusarium species. Phytopathology 79:162-165. Competitive types of two novel enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays including nine other strains of Fusarium, showed little cross-reactivity. (ELISA) for Fusarium spec...

A number of fine root pathogens, including Phytophthora cinnamomi, Pythium ultimum var. ultimum, Pythium undulatum, Pythium violae, Fusarium sp., and two incompletely identified Verticillium species, were isolated from soils taken from under Scots pine trees at five sites in north Scotland, including semi-natural forests and plantations. At least two root pathogens were recovered from each fore...

during the growing seasons of 2009 and 2010, same tomato fields throughout marvdasht  were visited  and  96 isolates of fusarium spp. were collected from root, crown and stem of diseased tomato plants. isolates were identified as based on morphological characteristics. they were divided into four species namely: fusarium solani, f. pseudoanthophilum, f. oxysporum and f. equiseti. these species,...

Fusariosis is a hyalohyphomycosis due to Fusarium species that mainly occurs in immunocompromised hosts. The clinical spectrum of Fusarium infection comprises localized and disseminated forms. A case of localized cutaneous fusariosis caused by Fusarium solani in a renal transplant patient is described, and the skin manifestations of the disease are discussed.

Fusarium graminearum is among the main causal agents of Fusarium head blight (FHB), or scab, of wheat and other cereals, caused by a complex of Fusarium species, worldwide. Besides causing economic losses in terms of crop yield and quality, F. graminearum poses a severe threat to animal and human health. Here, we present the first draft whole-genome sequence of the mycotoxigenic Fusarium gramin...

The increased occurrence of Fusarium-mycotoxins in Norwegian cereals over the last decade, is thought to be caused by increased inoculum resulting from more cereal residues at the soil surface as a result of reduced tillage practices. In addition, weather conditions have increasingly promoted inoculum development and infection by Fusarium species. The objective of this work was to elucidate the...

Fusarium species are ubiquitous fungi causing a wide array of infections, including invasive disease in the immunosuppressed. We present a fusarium bone infection in a child with Pearson syndrome and review the literature. Ten cases of fusarium osteomyelitis were reported in the past 40 years, and we review the treatments.

maize genotypes were screened for host resistance and seed treatment chemicals were evaluated in field to manage fusarium ear rot complex of maize at high- and mid-hill environments in nepal during 2003 and 2004. seven popular maize genotypes along with a susceptible check were used in the host resistance study. the maize genotypes adopted from exotic sources, manakamana-3 and deuti, performed ...

Fusarium species are saprophytic molds which cause disseminated or localized infections in humans. Disseminated Fusarium infection can cause significant morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised patients. We present a case of disseminated fusariosis caused by Fusarium verticillioides in a patient with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and successfully treated using both liposomal amphotericin B a...
