the present study was conducted to investigate the prevalence of developmental stages of fasciola gigantica infection in lymnaea snails and their populations in sylhet region of bangladesh. a total of 1865 lymnaea snails were collected and examined, of which 56 (3%) were found to having infected with developmental stages of fasciola gigantica. only 4.08% infected of 515 snails were collected fr...
background: fasciolosis in livestock is a crucial concern in the globe, mainly due to its impact on human health. the aim of this study was to determine the rate of infection with fasciola gigantica (cobbold, 1855) larvae in the field-collected snails of lymnaea auricularia (linnaeus, 1785) from northwestern iran using a molecular approach. methods : a total of 6,759 pond snails were collected ...
In the present study saliva was evaluated for detection of human and animal fascioliosis. Both saliva and serum samples were collected from 12 Fasciola infected patients, 17 cattles and 20 sheep harboring Fasciola eggs only in their faeces. Samples from negative non-infected hosts were also collected. Experimental infection by F. gigantica in rabbits was carried out for determination of the fir...
Two cases of aberrant migration by the liver fluke Fasciola gigantica in humans are reported. In both cases, subadult worms emerged through the skin. The identity of the worms was confirmed from their DNA sequences. This uncommon human pathogen might be more likely than F. hepatica to undertake aberrant migrations in humans.
Fascioliasis is a common parasitic disease in livestock in China. However, human fascioliasis is rarely reported in the country. Here we describe an outbreak of human fascioliasis in Yunnan province. We reviewed the complete clinical records of 29 patients and performed an epidemiological investigation on the general human population and animals in the outbreak locality. Our findings support an...

Background & Aims: Fascioliasis caused by Fasciola hepatica and Fasciola gigantica has medical and economic importance in the world. Traditional approaches are not accurate and reliable in identification of agent parasites. Thus the present study was designed to identify the Fasciola sppby molecular methods in West Azerbaijan province.Materials & Methods: In current study Fasciola isolates wer...
Fascioliasis is an endemic disease in Iran and triclabendazole (TCBZ) is using for treatment of domestic animals and infected people. Excretory-secretory products (ESP) play an important role in the host biochemical defense by means of activities of detoxifying and antioxidant glutathione S-transferase (GST) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzymes respectively. Therefore, the aim of this compara...
In this study, the rabbit was assessed as a laboratory host for the helminthes parasite, Fasciola gigantica. Three groups of rabbits were Infected experimentally with 5, 10 end 15 metacercariae of F. gigantica respectively. Clinical signs found included pale mucous membrane, progressive emaciation and rough hair coat. The post mortem findings Included haemorrhage and scattered calcified nodules...
Water-borne disease fasciolosis with gastropods as intermediate hosts is still a burden for mankind, especially in tropical countries. Fasciolosis is caused by two trematodes Fasciola hepatica (the common liver fluke) and Fasciola gigantica (the large liver fluke) [1,2]. Fasciolosis is a common disease of many wild and domestic animals, especially sheep, goat, cattle[2,3]. The total global econ...
