When using the ordered weighted average operator, it can happen that one wants to optimize the variability (measured by the entropy (maximal) or by the variance (minimal)) of the weights while keeping the orness of this operator at a fixed level. This has been considered by several authors. Dually, there might be some contexts where one wishes to maximize the orness while guaranteeing some fixe...

Dynamics of a periodically time-dependent quantum system is re ected in the features of the eigenstates of the Floquet operator. Of the special importance, are their localization properties quantitatively characterized by the eigenvector entropy, the inverse participation ratio or the eigenvector statistics. Since these quantities depend on the choice of the eigenbasis, we suggest to use the ov...

Since cell biologists need to use image processing techniques, such as edge detection, to analyze cell images the precision of these techniques is pivotal to their work. Due to the often low quality of cell images, existing edge detectors fail to routinely produce highly accurate results. In this paper, a novel hybrid method based on the canny operator and fuzzy entropy theory is proposed. The ...

It is known that the entropy distance between two Gauss-ian measures is nite if, and only if, they are absolutely continuous with respect to one another. Shepp (1966) characterized the correlations corresponding to stationary Gaussian measures that are absolutely continuous with respect to the Wiener measure. By analyzing the entropy distance, we show that one of his conditions, involving the s...

In this letter, we investigate a possible modification to the temperature and entropy of 5−dimensional Schwarzschild anti de Sitter black holes due to incorporating stringy corrections to the modified uncertainty principle. Then we subsequently argue for corrections to the Cardy-Verlinde formula in order to account for the corrected entropy. Then we show, one can taking into account the general...

The methods for determining OWA operator weights have aroused wide attention. We first review the main existing methods for determining OWA operator weights. We next introduce the principle of maximum entropy for setting up probability distributions on the basis of partial knowledge and prove that Xu’s normal distribution-based method obeys the principle of maximum entropy. Finally, we propose ...

Generalizing the notion of relative entropy, the difference between a priori and a posteriori relative entropy for quantum systems is drawn. The former, known as quantum relative entropy, is associated with quantum states recognition. The latter—a posteriori relative quantum entropy is introduced and shown to be related with state reconstruction due to the following property: given a density op...

Performing digital image forgery is very easy due to highly precise image editing tools. There is a concomitant need to have some mechanism to differentiate between a forged image and the original image. In this paper, we propose a passive image forgery detection method that uses entropy filter and local phase quantization (LPQ) texture operator. The entropy filter generally highlights the boun...

Abstract: With respect to the interval neutrosophic multi-attribute decision-making (MADM) problems, the MADM method based on some interval neutrosophic aggregation operators is developed. Firstly, the induced generalized interval neutrosophic hybrid arithmetic averaging (IGINHAA) operator and the induced generalized interval neutrosophic hybrid geometric mean (IGINHGM) operator are proposed, w...

A review of the maximum entropy spectral analysis (MESA) method for time series is presented. Then, empirical evidence based on maximum entropy spectra of real seismic data is shown to suggest that M = 2N/ ln 2N is a reasonable a priori choice of the operator length M for discrete time series of length N . Various data examples support this conclusion.
