The commonest pathologic diagnosis of large prolapsed polyps is leiomyoma. Benign or malignant adenomyomatous polyps follow. Adenomyotic cyst is a rare form of adenomyosis. To our knowledge, a recurrent prolapsed giant uterine polyp comprised of adenomyotic cysts and with different pathogenesis from the original polyp has not been reported in the literature. This case report describes a 29 year...
Endoscopic evaluation of a 51 year old woman, who had referred with a 6-months complaint of epigastric pain and fullness in the upper abdomen, demonstrated a large polyp in the greater curvature of the middle third of the stomach. The size of the pedunculated polyp was about 25 mm. Polypectomy was done by snar base and diluted epinephrine was injected submucosally and in to the stem and polyp r...
We present two patients with benign endobronchial tumours: polypi and a chondroma. Both were treated by Neodymium-YAG laser photoresection. There have been no signs of recurrence in the four years since treatment. Endobronchial resection by Neodymium-YAG laser is an effective treatment for benign endobronchial tumours.
We report a man presenting with dyspnea, cough, and hemoptysis due to left lung collapse from an endobronchial tumor obstructing the left main bronchus. Endobronchial biopsy of the tumor showed renal cell carcinoma, identical to a previous specimen of renal cell carcinoma removed by a radical left nephrectomy five years ago. The endobronchial tumor was removed by snare diathermy through a flexi...
Endobronchial tuberculosis and chest radiography I read, with interest, the article entitled “Clinical and Para-clinical Presentations of Endobronchial Tuberculosis” by Ahmadi Hoseini H. S. et al. (1) published in this journal. I would like to focus on some details about the chest X-ray of patients as elaborated by the authors in the results section. Accordingly, the findings of chest radiograp...
Phosphate is essential for all major life processes, especially energy metabolism and signal transduction. A linear phosphate polymer, polyphosphate (polyP), linked by high-energy phosphoanhydride bonds, can interact with various proteins, playing important roles as an energy source and regulatory factor. However, polyP-binding structures are largely unknown. Here we proposed a putative polyP b...
Pulmonary mucormycosis is an uncommon infection and its endobronchial form is rare. Fever, cough, dyspnoea and hemoptysis are the usual presenting symptoms. Hoarseness of voice, a rare manifestation of endobronchial mucormycosis, has been reported earlier but its exact anatomical basis was unclear. We report an instance of polypoid endobronchial mucormycosis and vocal cord paralysis in a patien...
We present a silica nanoparticle (SNP) functionalized with polyphosphate (polyP) that accelerates the natural clotting process of the body. SNPs initiate the contact pathway of the blood-clotting system; short-chain polyP accelerates the common pathway by the rapid formation of thrombin, which enhances the overall blood-clotting system, both by accelerating fibrin generation and by facilitating...
Inorganic polyphosphate (polyP) is a biopolymer of phosphoanhydride-linked orthophosphate residues. PolyP is involved in multiple cellular processes including mitochondrial metabolism and cell death. We used artificial membranes and isolated mitochondria to investigate the role of the polyP in mitochondrial ion transport and in activation of PTP. Here, we found that polyP can modify ion permeab...
A 47-year-old woman was referred to our hospital for further examination of a lung tumor. CT of the chest revealed a round, well-defined 2.4-cm nodule in S2, adjacent to right superior lobe bronchus. Endobronchial ultrasonography showed a well-defined, hypoechoic tumor with echogenic capsule and posterior acoustic enhancement. Diagnosis of schwannoma was confirmed from the specimen obtained by ...
