In this paper, we prove the existence of solutions of initial value problems for nth order nonlinear impulsive integro-differential equations of mixed type on an infinite interval with an infinite number of impulsive times in Banach spaces. Our results are obtained by introducing a suitable measure of noncompactness.

A nonautonomous nth order Lotka-Volterra system of differential equations is considered. It is shown that if the coefficients satisfy certain inequalities, then any solution with positive components at some point will have all of its last n − 1 components tend to zero, while the first one will stabilize at a certain solution of a logistic equation.

The existence of unbounded nonnegative solutions of a boundary value problem for nth-order differential equations defined on an infinite interval is obtained by means of the M ¨ onch fixed-point theorem. An example is then presented to demonstrate the application of our results.

The nth order differential equation x + c (t )x + ƒ( t,x) = e(t),n>3 is considered. Using the Leray-Schauder principle, it is shown that under certain conditions on the functions involved, this equation possesses a periodic solution.
