Objectives This study is aimed to introduce an unusual case of a female with two talon teeth on both maxillary lateral incisors. Case A 38-year-old female was referred to oral medicine department, Qom university of medical sciences for routin examinations. Bilateral maxillary talon cusp was observed on maxillary lateral incisors. Future evaluation revealed impaction of maxillary left canine an...
We define generalized Mellin transforms of mixed cusp forms, show its convergence, and prove that the function obtained by such a Mellin transform of a mixed cusp form satisfies a certain functional equation. We also prove that a mixed cusp form can be identified with a holomorphic form of the highest degree on an elliptic variety.
Talon cusp is a rare developmental anomaly that occurs most commonly on the lingual side of the incisors. It may cause various clinical problems, such as occlusal interference, irritation of the tongue, pulpal necrosis, caries and periodontal problems. Genetics is thought to be a major cause for the occurrence of this anomaly. This article reports three cases of talon cusp in three members of t...
The quotient-cusp singularities are isolated complex surface singularities that are double-covered by cusp singularities. We show that the universal abelian cover of such a singularity, branched only at the singular point, is a complete intersection cusp singularity of embedding dimension 4. This supports a general conjecture that we make about the universal abelian cover of a Q-Gorenstein sing...
Talon cusp is a common dental anomaly affecting maxillary central incisors. Gradual grinding of this additional cusp is commonly followed now. Advocated below is a new technique explaining the use of air abrasion and putty index during the stepwise reduction of the cusp. The technique is advantageous in preventing patient discomfort and tracking the amount of reduction in a predictable way.
Motivated by a question of Hirzebruch on the possible topological types of cusp cross-sections of Hilbert modular varieties, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for a manifold M to be diffeomorphic to a cusp cross-section of a Hilbert modular variety. Specialized to Hilbert modular surfaces, this proves that every Sol 3–manifold is diffeomorphic to a cusp cross-section of a (generalize...
We report on the first analysis of magnetospheric cusp observations at Saturn by multiple in situ instruments onboard the Cassini spacecraft. Using this we infer the process of reconnection was occurring at Saturn's magnetopause. This agrees with remote observations that showed the associated auroral signatures of reconnection. Cassini crossed the northern cusp around noon local time along a po...
The study focuses on a single particle dynamics in the cusp region. The topology of the cusp region in terms of magnetic field iso-B contours has been studied using the Tsyganenko 96 model (T96) as an example, to show the importance of an off-equatorial minimum on particle trapping. We carry out test particle simulations to demonstrate the bounce and drift motion. The “cusp trapping limit” conc...
Supernumerary (central) cusps that appear on the occlusal surface of the teeth have already been grouped by many authors. The most comprehensive grouping of central cusps on the premolars is that by Schulze (1987). However, different central cusp forms may occur on the molar teeth, and cusp-like protrusions may also develop on the incisors and the canines. In the present work, plaster casts of ...
For example, let f11A denote the (unique) level 11 weight 2 cusp form, then both f11A(z) and f11A(2z) are level 22 cusp forms. Similarly, both f14A(z) and f14A(2z) are level 28 cusp forms, and both f15A(z) and f15A(2z) are level 30 cusp forms. None of these are “new” at N = 22, 28 or 30 since they arise from lower levels. Define S k (N) to be the vector space of weight k primitive cusp forms (o...
