The optical, structural and charge transport properties of solution-processed films of copper(I) thiocyanate (CuSCN) are investigated in this work. As-processed CuSCN films of ~20 nm in thickness are found to be nano-crystalline, highly transparent and exhibit intrinsic hole transporting characteristics with a maximum field-effect mobility in the range of 0.01-0.1 cm(2) V(-1) s(-1).

Using a DFT-based genetic algorithm (GA) approach, we have determined the most stable structure and stoichiometry of a 309-atom icosahedral AuCu nanoalloy, for potential use as an electrocatalyst for CO2 reduction. The identified core-shell nano-particle consists of a copper core interspersed with gold atoms having only copper neighbors and a gold surface with a few copper atoms in the terraces...

Recently introduced micronized copper (MC) formulations, consisting of a nanosized fraction of basic copper (Cu) carbonate (CuCO3·Cu(OH)2) nanoparticles (NPs), were introduced to the market for wood protection. Cu NPs may presumably be more effective against wood-destroying fungi than bulk or ionic Cu compounds. In particular, Cu- tolerant wood-destroying fungi may not recognize NPs, which may ...

There is a continuing need to develop effective materials for the environmental remediation of copper-contaminated sites. Nano-MnO₂-biochar composites (NMBCs) were successfully synthesized through the reduction of potassium permanganate by ethanol in a biochar suspension. The physicochemical properties and morphology of NMBCs were examined, and the Cu(II) adsorption properties of this material ...

Abstract The effects of engineered nanoparticles (ENPs) in living organisms are described in a myriad of articles. Most of the literature on this topic is devoted to plants of different gender and species. Studies from laboratories and greenhouse facilities highlight effects on chlorophyll production, plant growth, stress enzyme activities, phytotoxicity, cytotoxicity, and genotoxicity. With fe...

Although many breast and lung cancers overexpress human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2), no methods currently exist for effective and early detection of HER-2-positive cancers. To address this issue, we designed and synthesized dendrimer-based novel nano-imaging agents that contain gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and gadolinium (Gd), conjugated with the humanized anti-HER-2 antibody (Herc...

BACKGROUND We investigated the particles released due to abrasion of wood surfaces pressure-treated with micronized copper azole (MCA) wood preservative and we gathered preliminary data on its in vitro cytotoxicity for lung cells. The data were compared with particles released after abrasion of untreated, water (0% MCA)-pressure-treated, chromated copper (CC)-pressure-treated wood, and varnishe...

Copper oxide (CuO) nanostructures are of particular interest because of their interesting properties and promising applications in batteries, super capacitors, solar cells, gas sensors, bio sensors, nano fluids and catalysis. In Recent past, more efforts have been received to design materials with different properties which is dependent on morphology.  In this work cupric oxide nano flakes were...

in the present work, we report the synthesis of binary nano metal oxides such as zinc /copper oxide via novel dry synthetic methods such as thermal decomposition of oxalate precursor. the synthesis route involves facile solid-phase mechanochemical activation of a physical mixture of simple copper/zinc salts and oxalic acid, followed by calcination of the as-ground oxalate precursors at 450◦c. x...
