This paper is concerned with unconventional water cooling that is primarily intended for medium-power synchronous generators. A configuration of the proposed cooling was briefly described here. A way how to estimate the main thermal resistance related to the new water cooling system was presented here. A small induction motor was selected for practical verification of the proposed cooling conce...

A μ-μ collider must compress the beam phase-space volume by a factor of ~10 to obtain high luminosity, and this beam cooling must occur before μ-decay. In this paper we present simulations of ionization cooling which explore the various conditions needed for cooling to collider conditions. Cooling by large factors is demonstrated and directions toward complete cooling scenarios are discussed.

INTRODUCTION Various methods and devices have been described for cooling after cardiac arrest, but the ideal cooling method remains unclear. The aim of this study was to compare the neurological outcomes, efficacies and adverse events of surface and endovascular cooling techniques in cardiac arrest patients. METHODS We performed a multicenter, retrospective, registry-based study of adult card...

Cooling of gas turbine hot section components such as combustor liners, combustor transition pieces, turbine vanes (nozzles) and blades (buckets) is a critical task for improving the life and reliability of hotsection components. Conventional cooling techniques using air-film cooling, impingement jet cooling, and turbulators have significantly contributed to cooling enhancements in the past. Ho...

design and construction of efficient and economic reinforced concrete (r.c.) hyperbolic cooling towers have driven the engineers toward the design of tall and thin-shell towers which have considerable high slenderness aspect ratio. consequently, the shell of r.c. cooling towers with relative high slenderness aspect ratio is extremely prone to buckling instability due to wind loading. to increas...

basic understanding of the process of coolant heat transfer inside an engine is an indispensable prerequisite to devise an infallible cooling strategy. coolant flow and its heat transfer affect the cooling efficiency, thermal load of heated components, and thermal efficiency of a diesel engine. an efficient approach to studying cooling system for diesel engine is a 3d computational fluid dynami...

in this investigation, continuous cooling transformations and microstructures have been studied in detail in a low carbon ti-nb bearing microalloyed steel by means of dilatometry, metallography and hardness measurements. the results indicate that when the cooling rate is greater than 1˚c/s, the dilatation curve is associated with a major dilatation at relatively low transformation temperatures,...

We examine recent developments in the cluster cooling flow scenario following recent observations by Chandra and XMM-Newton. We show that the distribution of gas emissivity verses temperature determined by XMM-Newton gratings observations demonstrates that the central gas, i.e., where the cooling time is less than the age of the cluster, in cooling flow clusters cannot be in simple steady-state...

We propose that the outer portions of cooling flows in clusters of galaxies are frequently disrupted by radio jets, and that their effective ages are much shorter than the cluster ages. The inner regions, where the gas density is higher, are more difficult to disrupt, and may continue to harbor cooling flows even after disruption events. The main assumption of the proposed scenario is that, on ...

Re-circulating cooling water systems are generally used to remove waste heat from hot process streams in conditions above the ambient temperature in many types of industries such as chemical and petrochemical, electric power generating stations, refrigeration and air conditioning plants, pulp and paper mills, and steel mills. Typical re-circulating cooling water systems are constituted by a mec...
