Structured analysis methods for real-time systems (SA/RT) are widely accepted by the industrial world as a mature approach to real-time systems design. These methods use highly expressive graphical speciication languages to specify system requirements. Giving semantics to SA/RT speciications via selected formal models has the advantage of not only retaining their user-friendly and problem-orien...
a one dimensional dynamic model for a riser reactor in a fluidized bed catalytic cracking unit (fccu) for gasoil feed has been developed in two distinct conditions, one for industrial fccu and another for fccu using various frequencies of microwave energy spaced at the height of the riser reactor (fccu-mw). in addition, in order to increase the accuracy of component and bulk diffusion, instanta...
To survive in an ever increasing global and competitive marketplace, organisations are forging strategic alliances to gain a competitive advantage over their rivals. Consequently, it is now recognised that it is not sufficient to look at organisations in isolation, but view them in the wider context of the supply chain. In order to design arid manage supply chains it is necessary to understand ...
ed models, such as in the examples above, can help to considerably speed up the analysis, and experimental results will be provided in Part 11. In the next section, we will discuss methods to compute simulation relations algorithmically, based on geometric operations in Rn. 6.3 Computing Simulation Relations in Rn 91 6.3 Computing Simulation Relations in Rn The computation of a simulation relat...
Thermodynamic equilibrium computations are usually the most time consuming component in compositional reservoir flow simulation. A Compositional Space Adaptive Tabulation (CSAT) approach has been developed in order to speed up the Equation of State (EoS) computations. The methodology adaptively parameterizes the compositional space using a small number of tie-lines, which are assembled into a t...
Incomplete information is present in many engineering domains, hindering traditional and non{traditional simulation techniques. This paper describes SQPC (semi{quantitative physics compiler), an implemented approach to modelling and simulation that can predict the behavior of incompletely speciied systems, such as those that arise in the water control domain. SQPC is the rst system that uniies ...
Traffic flow on freeways is a nonlinear, many-particle phenomenon, with complex interactions between vehicles. This paper presents a stochastic model of freeway traffic at a time scale and of a level of detail suitable for on-line estimation, routing and ramp metering control. The freeway is considered as a network of interconnected components, corresponding to one-way road links consisting of ...
We have ported a fully implicit EOS (equation-of-state) compositional parallel reservoir simulator to a cluster of PCs. We report on the performance of the cluster, both in terms of scalability and in absolute performance relative to an IBM SP. The simulator scales well through 16 processors, with each run taking less than twice as long as the comparable run on the SP.
The quest for efficient and scalable parallel reservoir simulators has been evolving with the advancement of high performance computing architectures. Among the various challenges of efficiency and scalability, load imbalance is a major obstacle that has not been fully addressed and solved. The reasons that cause load imbalance in parallel reservoir simulation are both static and dynamic. Robus...
