Hollow magnetic graphitic carbon microspheres (HMGSs) with/without a TiO(2) nanoparticle layer on their surfaces are designed and synthesized by combining the bubble-template method, assembly of beta-cyclodextrin and Fe(3)O(4) stabilized by oleic acid and ammonia, and consequent graphitization reaction. HMGSs have potential in adsorption, enrichment, magnetic-assisted separation and drug delivery.
Bimetallic metal-organic frameworks are rationally synthesized as templates and employed for porous carbons with retained morphology, high graphitization degree, hierarchical porosity, high surface area, CoNx moiety and uniform N/Co dopant by pyrolysis. The optimized carbon with additional phosphorus dopant exhibits excellent electrocatalytic performance for the oxygen reduction reaction, which...
A novel sulfur nanocomposite was fabricated based on graphitic mesoporous carbon. The graphitic mesoporous carbon was synthesized using sucrose as carbon precursor, nano CaCO3 as a hard template and nickel nitrate as graphitization catalyst. The structural properties of the prepared material were characterized using powder X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), N2-adsorption/de...
Mesoporous carbon with embedded iron carbide nanoparticles was successfully synthesized via a facile impregnation–carbonization method. A green biomass resource, cotton fabric, was used as a carbon precursor and an iron precursor was implanted to create mesopores through a catalytic graphitization reaction. The pore structure of the nanocomposites can be tuned by adjusting the iron precursor lo...
We demonstrate a new strategy for tuning the size of large-diameter and few-walled nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes (N-CNTs) from 50 to 150 nm by varying the transition metal (TM = Fe, Co, Ni or Mn) used to catalyze graphitization of dicyandiamide. Fe yielded the largest tubes, followed by Co and Ni, while Mn produced a clot-like carbon morphology. We show that morphology is correlated with elec...
