Low noise amplifier when simulated for system level configuration, the scattering matrix in general and scattering parameters in specific play vital role in performance of low noise amplifier for various frequency bands. In this paper the scattering parameter performance was analysed for S-band for recent process technologies available for CMOS and BiCMOS for IEEE 802.11 b/g.
This paper presents the design of a 2-16 GHz ultra wide band low noise amplifier (UWB LNA). The proposed LNA has a gain of 11.5 ± 0.85 dB with NF less than 2.82 dB. Good input and output impedance matching, good isolation and linearity are achieved over the operating frequency band. The proposed UWB LNA consumes 18.14 mW of power from 1.8V supply. This UWB LNA is designed and simulated in 0.18 ...
The paper presents a new voltage-mode universal filter using a differential voltage current conveyor transconductance amplifier (DVCCTA). It has three inputs and single output. The proposed circuit can simultaneously realize low-pass, band-pass, and high pass, band reject and all pass filter functions without changing the circuit topology and passive elements. The circuit exhibits a good freque...
In this paper, the gain spectrum of EDFA has been broadened by implementing HTE configuration for S and C band. On using this configuration an amplification bandwidth of 76nm ranging from 1479nm to 1555nm with a peak gain of 26dB has been obtained. Keywords—C band, DWDM system, EDFA, Gain, HTE, Hybrid Fiber Amplifier, S band.
Gain equalization of an EDFA is performed by introducing spectrally designed all-fiber filters in the midstage of a dual-stage fiber amplifier. Two types of filters are studied: a cascade of narrow-band Bragg gratings for discrete equalization of a finite number of channels and a wide-band Bragg grating performing equalization over the whole 1539 nm to 1557 nm range. In future work, it is plann...
The base-band analog processor performs necessary signal processing on the 150 MHz base-band signal in the transmit and receive signal paths for a wide-band wireless local area network. The individual channel characteristics depend on the RF signal fade and interference. Broadcasting to multiple appliances requires channel equalization at the receiver. In the receive (Rx) section, the wide-band...
An phase-sensitive amplifier (PSA) is capable of low-noise optical amplification. A frequency non-degenerate PSA (ND-PSA) requires idler light co-propagating with signal light. Therefore, spectral efficiency reduced by at least half compared to the system using phase-in-sensitive amplifiers such as an erbium-doped fiber amplifier. In this letter, we propose and demonstrate inter-band amplificat...
A single-chip dual-band power amplifier monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) operating at 3.5V single supply has been developed for both WLAN 2.4GHz and 5.2GHz with IEEE 802.11b/g/a standards applications. The MMIC utilizes the process of WINs Corp. with an InGaP/GaAs HBT process. The dual-band power amplifier constructed based on the design of adaptive RF bias choke circuits and prop...
This paper presents a switched-capacitor (SC) band-pass biquad using a simple quasi-unity gain amplifier. In sub-nanometer CMOS technologies the intrinsic gain of the transistors is low; this increases the difficulty of designing high gain amplifiers. The proposed SC filter is based on the Sallen-Key biquad and it requires only a simple low gain amplifier. A differential filter circuit, includi...
A large dynamic-range Variable Gain Amplifier (VGA) suitable for Ultra Wide Band (UWB) applications is presented. The VGA is composed of three programmable variable gain amplifier stages followed by an output buffer. Such wide bandwidth allows our proposed VGA to be used in multi-standard protocols. Power reduction is developed for the variable gain amplifier stages. Thorough analyses of the mi...
