the goal of this research was to isolate and identify the thermostable alkaline protease producing bacteria among several native iranian microorganisms. at the end of screening program, a bacillus subtilis bp-36 strain producing thermophilic alkaline protease was isolated from a hot spring in ardebil province. the target enzyme was purified using a one-step aqueous two-phase systems (atps) prot...

conclusions b. subtilis entrapped in beads was able to preserve its viability and produce biosurfactants as secondary metabolites. therefore, this method could be applied as a continuous culture system of biosurfactant production. methods alginate and bacterial solutions were mixed by stirring to obtain a uniform mixture and added by drops into cacl2 solution to form spherical beads. the spheri...

BACKGROUND Bacillus subtilis are opportunistic, spore forming bacteria, common soil inhabitants. A resistant spore allows bacteria to endure extreme conditions of heat and desiccation in the environments promotes their survival in many instances, even in environments like hospitals. OBJECTIVES This paper purposes to find out the incidence of Bacillus subtilis from various sources at Azadi Tea...

In this report, we present a draft sequence of Bacillus subtilis KATMIRA1933. Previous studies demonstrated probiotic properties of this strain partially attributed to production of an antibacterial compound, subtilosin. Comparative analysis of this strain's genome with that of a commercial probiotic strain, B. subtilis Natto, is presented.

Biosurfactants are amphiphilic compounds produced by various bacteria and fungi which reduce surface and interfacial tension. Oil contaminated soil were collected from four different automobile shop in Mayiladuthurai, Tamilnadu, India. Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were isolated and identified from these four samples and these were screened for biosurfactants production using veg...

A bacterial strain isolated from soil for its potential to control the anthracnose disease caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides was identified as a Bacillus subtilis. Bacillus subtilis CMB32 produced antifungal agents on M9 broth at 30degreesC. Biosurfactant lipopeptides produced by Bacillus subtilis CMB32 were precipitated by adjusting to pH 2 and extracting using chloroform/methanol, and ...

The expression of the neutral protease gene (npr) from the thermophilic Bacillus sp. BT1 strain was studied in its natural host and in mesophilic Bacillus subtilis. In the thermophilic BT1 strain, the transcription of the protease gene is initiated from its own promoter, just 5' to the gene. In contrast, in heterologous B. subtilis this thermophilic npr promoter does not function, and expressio...

Expression of the Bacillus subtilis or Bacillus amyloliquefaciens sacB gene in the presence of sucrose is lethal for a variety of bacteria. Sucrose-induced lethality can be used to select for inactivation of sacB by insertion of heterologous DNA in sensitive bacteria. This procedure has not been applicable to B. subtilis heretofore because expression of wild-type sacB is not detrimental to B. s...

A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay was developed for discrimination of Bacillus subtilis from other members of B. subtilis group as well as rapid identification from environmental samples. Primers ENIF and EN1R from endoglucanase gene were used to amplify a1311 bp DNA fragment. The specificity of the primers was tested with seven reference strains and 28 locally isolated strains of endoglu...

Bacterial chemotaxis involves the regulation of motility by a modified two-component signal transduction system. In Escherichia coli, CheZ is the phosphatase of the response regulator CheY but many other bacteria, including Bacillus subtilis, use members of the CheC-FliY-CheX family for this purpose. While Bacillus subtilis has only CheC and FliY, many systems also have CheX. The effect of this...
