We have demonstrated that NBS is able to promote the oxidation of fullerene monoradicals to form 1,4-difunctional fullerenes. The singly bonded fullerene dimers were used as fullerene monoradical precursors, which produced various 1,4-fullerenes with a wide range of functional groups in good to high yields with high regioselectivity in terms of cosolvents and nucleophiles.

After last six year e orts which are manifested by hundreds of papers on the physics, chemistry of the fullerenes and the fullerene based materials it is known a lot about the electronic structure of the single macromolecule which is the base of the di erent materials like the doped solids and the chemical adducts. A variety of the computational methods, from ab initio calculation to an empiric...

Obesity and its associated metabolic diseases represent some of the most rapidly expanding health issues worldwide, and, thus, the development of a novel chemical compound to suppress adipogenesis is strongly expected. We herein investigated the effects of water-soluble fullerene derivatives: a bis-malonic acid derivative and three types of proline-type fullerene derivatives, on adipogenesis us...

A fullerene graph is a cubic 3-connected plane graph with (exactly 12) pentagonal faces and hexagonal faces. Let Fn be a fullerene graph with n vertices. A set H of mutually disjoint hexagons of Fn is a sextet pattern if Fn has a perfect matching which alternates on and off each hexagon in H. The maximum cardinality of sextet patterns of Fn is the Clar number of Fn. It was shown that the Clar n...

How to create novel desired structures by rational design of building blocks represents a significant challenge in materials science. Here we report a conceptually new design principle for creating supracolloidal fullerene-like cages through the self-assembly of soft patchy particles interacting via directional nonbonded interactions by mimicking non-planar sp2 hybridized carbon atoms in C60. O...

The instability of hybrid perovskite materials due to water and moisture arises as one major challenge to be addressed before any practical application of the demonstrated high efficiency perovskite solar cells. Here we report a facile strategy that can simultaneously enhance the stability and efficiency of p-i-n planar heterojunction-structure perovskite devices. Crosslinkable silane molecules...

In this paper, LDPC Codes based on defected fullerene graphs have been generated. And it is found that the codes generated are fast in encoding and better in terms of error performance on AWGN Channel. Keywords—LDPC Codes, Fullerene Graphs, Defected Fullerene Graphs.

Background and Objective: Occurrence of oxidative stress in uncontrolled diabetes mellitus affects spermatogenesis and the testicular functions. As the promising antioxidant activities of fullerene C60 nanomaterial have been demonstrated by previous reports, the current study aimed to determine the fullerene C60 effects on the markers of oxidative stress damage in testes of streptozotocin-induc...

While several recent reports have described the toxicity of water-soluble C60 fullerene nanoparticles, none have reported the toxicity resulting from the inhalation exposures to C60 fullerene nanoparticles or microparticles. To address this knowledge gap, we exposed male rats to C60 fullerene nanoparticles (2.22 mg/m3, 55 nm diameter) and microparticles (2.35 mg/m3, 0.93 microm diameter) for 3 ...

After discovery of fullerenes there were offered a wide variety of ways of their practical use. Nowadays a lot of patents in the field of fullerene chemistry concern use of fullerenes and nanotubes in semiconductor and nanoeletronic devices, e.g. photodiodes, transistors, sun batteries. Due to high electronegativity, fullerene C60 can easily form charge-transfer complexes in which it acts as ac...
