The behavior of a thin curved hyperelastic film bonded to a fixed substrate is described by an energy composed of a nonlinearly hyperelastic energy term and a debonding interfacial energy term. We compute the Γ-limit of this energy under a noninterpenetration constraint that prohibits penetration of the film into the substrate without excluding contact between them.
We are interested in the homogenization of elastic-electric coupling equation, with rapidly oscillating coefficients, in periodically perforated piezoelectric body. We justify the two first terms in the usual asymptotic development of the problem solution. For the main convergence results of this paper, we use the notion of two-scale convergence. A two-scale homogenized system is obtained as th...
We compute the large-body and the small-particle Gamma-limit of a family of energies for nematic elastomers. We work under the assumption of small deformations (linearized kinematics) and consider both compressible and incompressible materials. In the large-body asymptotics, even if we describe the local orientation of the liquid crystal molecules according to the model of perfect order (Frank ...
We revisit the problem of deformed oscillator with position-dependent mass [da Costa et al., J. Math. Phys. 62, 092101 (2021)] in classical and quantum formalisms by introducing effect function both kinetic potential energies. The resulting Hamiltonian is mapped into a Morse means point canonical transformation from usual phase space ( x, p) to one x γ , Π ). Similar potential, presents bound t...
Two-component systems (TCSs) are key elements in bacterial signal transduction in response to environmental stresses. TCSs generally consist of sensor histidine kinases (SKs) and their cognate response regulators (RRs). Many SKs exhibit autokinase, phosphoryltransferase and phosphatase activities, which regulate RR activity through a phosphorylation and dephosphorylation cycle. However, how SKs...
OBJECTIVE Asymmetrical skull deformity is frequently seen in children with cerebral palsy, and may contribute to postural abnormalities and deformities. The aim of this cross-sectional- survey was to determine the frequency of asymmetrical skull deformity and its correlation with clinical parameters. METHODS A 10-item checklist for asymmetrical skull deformity, postural abnormalities, and def...
OBJECTIVE: In this study, we compare muscular strength of the internal rotators and adductors of the shoulder between asymmetrical (backstroke and freestyle) and symmetrical (breaststroke and butterfly) swimming strokes. METHOD: We evaluated: shoulders of (a) asymmetrical swimmers (aged 21.8 ^ 3.8 years), (b) symmetrical swimmers (aged 20.3 ^ 4.5 years), (c) recreational swimmers (aged 24.5 ^ 4...
We study a variable exponent model for image restoration in the case that the exponent attains the critical value one. We prove existence and Γ-convergence. The results answer an open question by Li, Li and Pi [Variable exponent functionals in image restoration, Appl. Math. Comput. 216 (2010), no. 3, 870–882].
Received (Day Month Year) Communicated by (xxxxxxxxxx) Let Ω be an open bounded set of R 3 and let W and V be two non-negative continuous functions vanishing at α, β and α ′ , β ′ , respectively. We analyze the asymptotic behavior as ε → 0, in terms of Γ-convergence, of the following functional Fε(u) := ε p−2 Z Ω |Du| p dx + 1 ε p−2 p−1 Z Ω W (u)dx + 1 ε Z ∂Ω V (T u)dH 2 (p > 2), where u is a s...
