Aortic aneurysm is one several well-known cardiovascular complications in patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPCKD). Commonly affected site of aortic aneurysm and its related dissection in ADPCKD is abdominal aorta. Long standing hypertension, haemodialysis, old age are closely related with discovering of aortic aneurysm and dissection in ADPCKD. However, thoracic aort...
We report a relatively rare case of acute aortic regurgitation due to spontaneous laceration of aorta without dissecting aneurysm. A 73-year-old male who had complained of sudden onset of chest discomfort was admitted to our hospital, and severe aortic regurgitation with aortic valve prolapse was detected by echocardiography. There were not any echographic and radiographic evidences of dissecti...
A case is described in which a patient, who had had an aortic aneurysm repair 10 years previously, presented with a thoraco-abdominal aortic aneurysm which ruptured immediately above the previous graft. The implications for the management of patients with an abdominal aortic aneurysm repair are discussed.
Hemoptysis is the rarest presentation of thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA).This critical condition is one of the life-threatening medical emergencies. Even with prompt approaches, TAA can have highly terrible outcomes. Although TAA is an almost asymptomatic condition that is accidentally discovered, imaging with contrast is the most useful modality to diagnosis it.
Abdominal aortic aneurysm refers to abdominal aortic dilation of 3.0 cm or greater. The main risk factors are age older than 65 years, male sex, and smoking history. Other risk factors include a family history of abdominal aortic aneurysm, coronary artery disease, hypertension, peripheral artery disease, and previous myocardial infarction. Diagnosis may be made by physical examination, an incid...
Background and purpose: Abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) is a localized enlargement of infrarenal abdominal aorta. Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) is a surgical method introduced for AAA repair. This study, for the first time in Iran, investigated the complications and mortality rate associated with EVAR. Materials and methods: In this cross-sectional study, medical records were reviewed...
Methods Between June 1996 and November 2012, 21 patients who underwent aortic valve sparing for aortic root aneurysm were retrospectively reviewed. Mean age was 45 ± 16 years. 9 patients had Marfan syndrome and one patient had Takayasu arteritis. All patients had tricuspid aortic valve except one patient with bicuspid valve, and 15 patients showed moderate or severe degree of aortic regurgitati...
Primary non-Hodgkin lymphoma of the larynx is rare, accounting for less than 1% of all laryngeal neoplasms. Fewer than 100 cases have been reported in the literatureand to our knowledge this may be the first reported case of laryngeal non Hodgkin lymphoma presented with hoarseness, aortic aneurysm, hepatitis B and skin rashes.
Post-aortic left innominate vein (PALIV) is a rare abnormality passing over the aortic arch. A 70-year-old male was diagnosed with PALIV and distal aortic arch aneurysm (Fig. 1). Total arch replacement was successfully performed using antegrade selective cerebral perfusion of 20 8C. PALIV was preserved by complete exposure and retraction (Fig. 2). Fig. 2. Intraoperative surgeon's view: (A) post...
Ascending aortic dissection and aneurysm are rare but life-threatening complications after aortic valve replacement. Preoperative evaluation of risk factors such as aortic diameter, structural features of aortic wall, and associated diseases may decrease complication rate. We herein present analysis of risk factors of proximal aortic events following aortic valve replacement based on patient wi...
