Reservoir Computing is a novel computing paradigm that uses a nonlinear recurrent dynamical system to carry out information processing. Recent electronic and optoelectronic Reservoir Computers based on an architecture with a single nonlinear node and a delay loop have shown performance on standardized tasks comparable to state-of-the-art digital implementations. Here we report an all-optical im...

An analog comparator is one of the core units in all-optical analog-to-digital conversion (AO-ADC) systems, which digitizes different amplitude levels into two levels of logical '1' or '0' by comparing with a defined decision threshold. Although various outstanding photonic ADC approaches have been reported, almost all of them necessitate an electrical comparator to carry out this binarization....

We experimentally demonstrate an all-optical binary counter composed of four semiconductor optical amplifier based all-optical switching gates. The time-of-flight optical circuit operates with bit-differential delays between the exclusive-OR gate used for modulo-2 binary addition and the AND gate used for binary carry detection. A movie of the counter operating in real time is presented.

We demonstrate experimental proof of principle for all-optical excitonic transistors where light controls light by using excitons as an intermediate medium. The principle of operation of all-optical excitonic transistors is based on the control of exciton fluxes by light.

All-optical networks (AONs) are a relatively new technology for high data-rate communications. They contain only optical components and are intrinsically different from optical networks currently being used. More specifically, AONs provide transparent features that allow routing and data switching without necessitating the interpretation or regression of signals within the network. Consequently...
