This in vitro study quantified the marginal discrepancy of the implant-to-prosthetic-crown interface on nonsubmerged dental implants restored with either a cemented or a screw-retained approach. Metal-ceramic crowns were fabricated for 20 ITI 4.1 x 10 mm solid-screw titanium implants. Ten implants received octa abutments and screw-retained crowns fabricated on premachined gold cylinders. The re...
OBJECTIVE Evaluation of wear behavior of computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) crowns from various restorative materials and natural antagonists. METHOD Full CAD/CAM crowns fabricated with nanoceramic resin (Lava Ultimate (LU)), a glass ceramic in a resin interpenetrating matrix (Vita Enamic (VE)) and a lithium silicate reinforced ceramic enriched with zirconia (Vita Su...
This clinical report compares the esthetic outcome of replacing the same left maxillary central incisor with 2 types of implant-supported restorations, a zirconia abutment with a Procera crown and a custom metal abutment with metal ceramic crown. There were only subtle differences noted and both restorations yielded a satisfactory result.
BACKGROUND This article describes the management of a complicated crown root fracture. CASE REPORT A young patient presented with a crown root fracture of the maxillary left central incisor with an oblique subgingival fracture line. A multidisciplinary treatment approach including endodontic treatment, orthodontic extrusion, surgical extraction and intra-alveolar repositioning was used to gai...
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Production of a ceramic dental restoration that matches a target shade is dependent on porcelain thickness. Even when adequate porcelain thickness exists, clinical shade matches are difficult to achieve. PURPOSE This study predicted the thickness of dentin porcelain required to obtain a clinical shade match (</=3 DeltaE units) for a variety of dental porcelain systems and...
INTRODUCTION Badly broken or structurally compromised posterior teeth are frequently associated with crown/root fracture. Numerous restorative materials have been used to fabricate indirect full-coverage restorations for such teeth. This study aims to evaluate and compare the effect of restorative materials on the stress distribution pattern in a mandibular first molar tooth, under varying load...
Clinical success of endodontically treated posterior teeth is determined by the postendodontic restoration. Several options have been proposed to restore endodontically treated teeth. Endocrowns represent a conservative and esthetic restorative alternative to full coverage crowns. The preparation consists of a circular equigingival butt-joint margin and central retention cavity into the entire ...
This case report describes the management of a crown-root fractured maxillary right central incisor and a crown fractured maxillary left central incisor using two different techniques. A complex procedure was designed to manage this case including orthodontic extrusion to move the fracture line above the alveolar bone and surgical recontouring of the altered gingival margin. Finally, the right ...
