Extensively antibiotic-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii isolate AB0057 recovered in the United States in 2004 was one of the first global clone 1 isolates to be completely sequenced. Here, the complete 4.05-Mb genome sequence (chromosome and one plasmid) has been revised using Illumina HiSeq data and targeted sequencing of PCR products.

The emergence of multiple-carbapenemase-producing Acinetobacter strains has been a serious concern during the past decade. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of an Acinetobacter baumannii strain isolated from a Japanese patient with three acquired carbapenemase genes: blaNDM-1, blaTMB-1, and blaOXA-58.

A carbapenem-resistant Alcaligenes faecalis strain was isolated from a surveillance swab of a service member injured in Afghanistan. The isolate was positive for bla(NDM) by real-time PCR. Species identification was reevaluated on three identification systems but was inconclusive. Genome sequencing indicated that the closest relative was Acinetobacter schindleri and that bla(NDM-1) was carried ...

Here, we report the draft genome sequence of the type strain of Acinetobacter dijkshoorniae, a novel human pathogen within the Acinetobacter calcoaceticus-Acinetobacter baumannii (ACB) complex. Strain JVAP01T has an estimated genome size of 3.9 Mb, exhibits a 38.8% G+C content, and carries a plasmid with the blaNDM-1 carbapenemase gene.

We report the complete genome sequence of Acinetobacter baumannii strain AbH12O-A2, isolated during a large outbreak in Spain. The genome has 3,875,775 bp and 3,526 coding sequences, with 39.4% G+C content. The availability of this genome will facilitate the study of the pathogenicity of the Acinetobacter species.

The global epidemiology of multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii is dominated by a limited number of clones. Here, we announce the draft genome sequences of two multidrug-resistant A. baumannii strains, 1H8 and 4A3, representing the major epidemic clones, sequence type 92 (ST92) and ST96, respectively.

R300B-, RSF1010-, and RK2-derived plasmids were introduced into Acinetobacter sp. strain HO1-N and Acinetobacter calcoaceticus BD413 by transformation and conjugal mobilization. The transformation frequencies of BD413 were 4.2 X 10(6) to 6.3 X 10(6) transformants per micrograms of DNA per 10(9) recipient cells. Conjugal mobilization frequencies were 1.1 X 10(-1) to 8.5 X 10(-1) per recipient. A...

Multiply antibiotic-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii isolate D36 was recovered in Australia in 2008 and belongs to a distinct lineage of global clone 1 (GC1). Here, we present the complete 4.13 Mbp genome sequence (chromosome plus 4 plasmids), generated via long read sequencing (PacBio).
