BACKGROUND MicroRNA (miRNA) expression is known to be deregulated in ovarian carcinomas. However, limited data is available about the miRNA expression pattern for the benign or borderline ovarian tumors as well as differential miRNA expression pattern associated with histological types, grades or clinical stages in ovarian carcinomas. We defined patterns of microRNA expression in tissues from n...

Lung cancer is one of the most common deadly diseases worldwide, most of which is non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutant NSCLCs frequently respond to the EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) treatment, such as Gefitinib and Erlotinib, but the development of acquired resistance limits the utility. Multiple resistance mechanisms have been exp...

Prohistidine d carboxylase, previously demonstrated only in mutant 3 of Lactobacillus 30a (P. A. Recsei and E. E. Snell(1973) Biochemistry 12,365-371), is also formed (together with active enzyme) during incubation of nongrowing cultures of wild type Lactobacillus 30a with histidine. Activation of purified wild type proenzyme occurs about three times faster than that of the mutant 3 proenzyme...

Stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD) is one of the leading causes of cancer morbidity and mortality worldwide. The present study aimed to identify the microRNAs associated with STAD survival time. The clinical information and microarray miRNA and mRNA expression profiles of STAD patients were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas. Differential expression (DE) analysis was performed to identify DEmiR...

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, and most patients have localized disease at the time of diagnosis. However, 4% already present with metastatic disease. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition is a fundamental process in carcinogenesis that has been shown to be involved in prostate cancer progression. The main event in epithelial-mesenchymal transition is the repression of E-cadherin...

Abstract Background Gastric cancer (GC) remains an important worldwide. Further understanding of the molecular mechanisms gastric carcinogenesis will enhance diagnosis and treatment GC. Methods The expression DLEU2 ETS2 was analyzed in several GC cell lines using GEPIA online analyze, qRT-PCR immunohistochemistry. biological behavior cells detected by CCK8, clone formation, transwell, wound hea...

The energetic proton emission has been investigated as a function of the reaction centrality for the system (58)Ni + (58)Ni at 30A MeV. Extremely energetic protons (E(NN)(p) > or = 130 MeV) were measured and their multiplicity is found to increase almost quadratically with the number of participant nucleons, thus indicating the onset of a mechanism beyond one- and two-body dynamics.

Lactobacillus sp. strain 30a (Lactobacillus saerimneri) produces the biogenic amines histamine, putrescine, and cadaverine by decarboxylating their amino acid precursors. We report its draft genome sequence (1,634,278 bases, 42.6% G+C content) and the principal findings from its annotation, which might shed light onto the enzymatic machineries that are involved in its production of biogenic ami...

PURPOSE To determine whether mutations in the WD repeat domain 36 gene (WDR36) are associated with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) in Japanese. Subjects with high tension glaucoma (HTG) and normal tension glaucoma (NTG) were analyzed separately. METHODS One hundred and thirty-six unrelated Japanese patients with HTG and 103 unrelated patients with NTG were studied. Genomic DNA was extracte...

Inactivation of the von-Hippel Lindau ( VHL ) tumor suppressor gene occurs in 90% of human clear cell renal cell carcinomas (ccRCC) and leads to the stable expression of the hypoxia-inducible factors HIF1α and HIF2α. The constitutive expression of HIF1α in a majority of VHL defi cient tumors is counterintuitive, given that HIF1α functions as a tumor suppressor in ccRCC, whereas HIF2α clearly en...
