To help us investigate the role of mucin in the protection of the colonic epithelium in the mouse, we aimed to identify the murine colonic mucin (MCM) and its encoding gene. We isolated MCM, raised an anti-MCM antiserum, and studied the biosynthesis of MCM in the gastrointestinal tract. Isolated MCM resembled other mucins in physicochemical properties. Anti-MCM recognized MCM as well as rat and...

Mini-chromosome maintenance (MCM) proteins form complexes that are required for DNA replication and are highly conserved throughout evolution. The replicative helicase of eukaryotic organisms is composed of the six paralogs MCM2-7, which form a heterohexameric ring structure. In contrast, the structure of the archaean replicative MCM helicase is a single Mcm protein that forms a homohexameric c...

Highly dispersed Co particles in MCM-41 were prepared by direct addition of CoCIz to the synthesis gel. The small clusters of Co did not sinter during reduction and sulfidation. Incorporation of Co into the MCM-41 lattice was not observed. The addition of Co to the synthesis gel did not alter the structural characteristics of the MCM-41 samples.

Mesoporous templated MCM-48 silica was prepared using a C16 surfactant as template. The MCM-48 powders and thin films were characterized by different techniques. Two types of porous supports were used, namely macroporous α-alumina and silicon microsieves. The supported MCM-48 layers were applied as liquid permeable membranes in pressure-driven nanofiltration and electric field-mediated ion tran...

Mass customization manufacturing (MCM) has been gaining recognition as an industrial revolution in the 21st century. This paper presents innovative approaches in realizing and exercising MCM in theoretical and practical applications. Strategies of generalized production line platform and modularization are explored to support dynamic reconfigurations of MCM. NIST’s XML-based Shop Data informati...

A novel MCM-41-supported base catalyst, Ba-MCM-41, was synthesized with a modified impregnation method. Ba2SiO4 was synthesized on the MCM-41 pore wall as confirmed by characterization using X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray fluorescence, N2 adsorption, Si MAS NMR and transmission electron microscopy. It was also demonstrated that a highly ordered Ba-MCM-41 catalyst wit...

In the last two decades, many efficient algorithmsand architectures have been introduced for the design of lowcomplexity bit-parallel multiple constant multiplications (MCM)operation which dominates the complexity of many digital signalprocessing systems. On the other hand, little attention has beengiven to the digitserial MCM design that offers alternative lowcomplexityMCM operations albeit at...

The minichromosome maintenance protein (MCM) family is involved in the regulatory role of DNA replication in eukaryotic organisms. A cDNA encoding of an MCM of the silkworm, Bombyx mori L. (Lepidoptera: Bombycidae), was cloned by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and sequenced. The resultant amino acid sequence and phylogenetic analysis revealed high identity to MCM, and ...

The minichromosome maintenance (MCM) helicase is the presumptive replicative helicase in archaea and eukaryotes. The archaeal homomultimeric MCM has a two-tier structure. One tier contains the AAA+ motor domains of the proteins, and these are the minimal functional helicase domains. The second tier is formed by the N-terminal domains. These domains are not essential for MCM helicase activity bu...

MCM proteins are required for the proper regulation of DNA replication. There are six MCM proteins in all eukaryotes which interact to form a large complex. We report the cloning of fission yeast mcm3 +. mcm3 + is essential and spores carrying a Delta mcm3 disruption arrest with an apparently replicated DNA content. The protein is found constitutively in the nucleus and levels remain constant t...
