In this paper, results obtained with a parallel computational uid dynamics (CFD) simulation code with an embedded parallel rendering library are presented. By linking the rendering library into the CFD code, visualization of CFD data can be done at runtime. Several factors make in-place rendering of CFD data preferable to the use of external rendering packages or dedicated graphics workstations...

Background: Various variance reduction techniques such as forced detection (FD) have been implemented in Monte Carlo (MC) simulation of nuclear medicine in an effort to decrease the simulation time while keeping accuracy. However most of these techniques still result in very long MC simulation times for being implemented into routine use. Materials and Methods: Convolution-based force...

In this paper we present a novel energy efficient congestion control scheme for Wireless Multimedia Sensor Network called, CFD (Congestion aware Fair Data delivery). In our proposed CFD mechanism both node level and link level congestions are detected. It ensures fairness of each packet when packet drops happens due to congestion. To avoid congestion a fair rate allocation mechanism is also pro...

The hydrodynamics that occur in the space between the electrode plates in copper electrowinning (EW) are simulated using a computational fluid dynamics model (CFD). The model solves for the phases of gas oxygen bubbles and electrolyte using the Navier–Stokes equations in a CFD framework. An oxygen source is added to the anode, which sets up a recirculation pattern. The gradients in copper near ...

In this study, direct numerical simulation for the bubble condensation in the subcooled boiling flow was performed. The main goal was to develop the CFD modeling for the bubble condensation and to evaluate the accuracy of the VOF model with the developed CFD modeling. CFD modeling for the bubble condensation was developed by modeling the source terms in the governing equations of VOF model usin...

Observations regarding the use of advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis, sensitivity analysis (SA), and design codes in gradient-based multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) reflect wr perception of the interactions required of CFD and our experience in recent aerodynamic design optimization studies using CFD. Sample results from these latter studies are summarized for conve...

Background: Arteriography has been considered the “Gold Standard” for the investigation of Peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD). The development of Colour flow Doppler (CFD) has extended the scope of non-invasive assessment of chronic lower limb arterial disease. Aims: To evaluate and correlate the findings of CFD with arteriography as the gold standard, in PAOD of the lower extremities...

Title of Dissertation: CFD Based Unsteady Aerodynamic Modeling for Rotor Aeroelastic Analysis Jayanarayanan Sitaraman, Doctor of Philosophy, 2003 Dissertation directed by: Associate Professor James D. Baeder Department of Aerospace Engineering A Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis is developed for 3-D rotor unsteady aerodynamic load prediction. It is then coupled to a rotor structural a...

In order to develop a fast CFD code, we investigated well-known unstructured CFD codes, and we have determined the target performance and specification of CFD code. This is then followed by the development of a fast unstructured CFD code “FaSTAR”. The accuracy of drag prediction with FaSTAR is validated by the DPW4 benchmark problem. The computed drag coefficients generally agree with other res...

The simulation of drop size distributions in stirred liquid-liquid systems is studied. The simulation is realized via the coupling of the CFD code FeatFlow with the population balance solver Parsival. It is shown how such a coupling may be constructed and the properties of the coupled solver are critically analyzed.
