The paper presents a state of the art review on the subject of torque ripple, vibrations, and acoustic noise in Switched Reluctance Motors (SRM). The approach of the multi-phase operation of SRM is also reviewed. Moreover, further directions of research on these subjects are introduced.

Improving the behavior of speed control in electric vehicles is currently a major challenge for researchers and engineers. For this study, we chose context Switched Reluctance Motor (6/4 SRM) used hybrid Electric Vehicle with Extended Range (EREV). Speed regulation an essential feature on long-distance trip. regulators backstepping type are very effective given non-linear nature switched reluct...

This paper proposes an extended-flux model with core-loss resistance of SynRMs (synchronous reluctance motors) and precise torque estimation without core-loss measurement and position encoder. The proposed torque estimation is useful for precise MTPA (maximum torque per ampere) control of position sensorless controlled SynRMs, which is achieved with the assistance of active and reactive powers.

This study deals with the demands of traction motor design process in where not only the application set some design limits but also the control method set its own boundaries. It is a demanding task to design a traction application in where the driving speed varies from low speed up to field weakening area. Permanent Magnet (PM) synchronous reluctance motors are often used in traction applicati...

Switched Reluctance Motors (SRMs) are increasingly popular machines in electrical drives, whose performances are directly related to their operating condition. Their dynamic characteristics vary as condition change. Recently, several methods of modelling of the magnetic saturation of SRMs have been proposed. However, the SRM is nonlinear and cannot be adequately described by such models. Artifi...

The reluctance synchronous motor (RSM) is a machine working on the basis of development of reluctance torque development. The rotor configuration with the salient poles is made from the rotor of asynchronous motor if some rotor teeth are symmetrically removed (mill out). A different air gap in d and q axis enables development of a reluctance torque. The rotor cage is asymmetrical because some b...

This paper presents a new design to reduce torque ripple in Switched Reluctance Motors (SRM). Although SRM possesses many advantages in terms of motor structure, it suffers from large torque ripple that causes problems such as vibration and acoustic noise. The paper describes new rotor and stator pole shapes with a non-uniform air gap profile to reduce torque ripple while retaining its average ...

Shaft position sensing is an essential part of switched reluctance (SR) motor drive In order to synchronize the pulses of phase current with the period of rising inductance of the proper motor phase. Direct sensors such as, Hall effect and optical encoder are commonly used in SR motors. The purpose of this paper is to present an indirect shaft positioning sensing known as "sensorless " control ...
