Since several days, radioactive pollution was observed in the marine environment, at varying distances from the Fukushima-Daiichi power station. The main radionuclides regularly found in the sea water are (T = radioactive half-life): iodine 131 (T = 8 days), caesium 137 (T = 30 years), caesium 134 (T = 2.1 years), caesium 136 (T = 13.1 days), tellurium 132 / iodine 132 (T = 78 hours). Others ha...
In this article, we present Tellurium, a powerful Python-based integrated environment designed for model building, analysis, simulation and reproducibility in systems and synthetic biology. Tellurium is a modular, cross-platform, and open-source integrated development environment (IDE) composed of multiple libraries, plugins, and specialized modules and methods. Tellurium ensures exchangeabilit...
The electrochemistry of tellurium in two different deep eutectic solvents, choline chloride - urea (ChCl-U) and oxalic acid (ChCl-Ox) was studied on glassy carbon (GC) polycrystalline (Au(poly)) gold electrodes by cyclic hydrodynamic voltammetries. Voltammetric responses associated with the redox pairs Te(IV)/Te(0) Te(0)/Te(-II) are recorded, a striking difference between ChCl-U ChCl-Ox being o...
Reaction of chromium(III) precursors with TeO2 in PbF2/PbO melts in air led to oxidation of chromium(III) to chromium(VI), whereas tellurium remained its oxidation state of IV. In the resulting title compound, Pb2(CrO4)(TeO3), the two types of anions are isolated from each other, hence a double salt is formed. The two independent Pb2+ cations exhibit coordination number nine under formation of ...
Exposure of weanling rats to a diet containing the element tellurium results in specific inhibition of squalene epoxidase, an obligate enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis. Liver responds to the resulting intracellular sterol deficit by up-regulating, in parallel and to the same extent, expression of mRNA for squalene epoxidase and for HMG-CoA reductase, the major rate-limiting enzyme in the path...
When the former method is employed for production, enriched uranium irradiated for 2-3 weeks in the nuclear reactor is dissoivoc! in nitric acid and the iodine-131 is distilled and collected. '*) But separation of iodine-1 31 from pile irradiated tellurium targets is the most commonly used method of production. The methods <d Reparation varies for different targets. With metal tellurium the tar...
Bius, Janet Horton, Developing a Method for Determining the Mass Balance of Selenium and Tellurium Bioprocessed by a Selenium-Resistant Bacterium Grown in the Presence of Selenite or Tellurite, Master of Science (Chemistry), December, 2001. Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas, 68 pp. Purpose The purpose of this investigation was to determine: (1) the mass balance of selenium or tell...
A new tellurium-substituted Lindqvist-type polyoxoniobate [H2TeNb5O19](5-) was synthesized as a tetramethylammonium salt. When irradiated with a Xe lamp, a water-methanol solution of this cluster showed exceptionally high H2-evolution activity suggesting cocatalysis by the hexaniobate cluster and metallic tellurium, both of which are formed as photodecomposition products.
Iron (II) disulfide (FeS2) is a semiconductor which belongs to the space group 6 3 h T Pa . It has a cubic crystal system (primitive cubic). Iron (II) disulfide is used in Lithium metal sulfide batteries, solar photovoltaics, battery recycling and molding compounds. It has a narrow band gap value of 0.95 eV [1]. Tellurium (Te) is classified as metalloid (p-type semiconductor) and belongs to t...
