A template-engaged strategy is used to synthesize nanostructured metal phosphides with different compositions. The Tafel slope and the exchange current density values associated with hydrogen evolution reaction are determined to be 46 mV dec(-1) and 1.4 × 10(-4) A cm(-2) respectively.
