Ultrasonic shot peening (USP) studied. Several parameters (arc heights, surface roughness topography and micro hardness) with different parameters were measured. The research proposes curvature of shot peened sheet increases with time decreasing, while increases with pin diameter increasing, and curvature reaches a saturation level after a specific electric current. An empirical model of the re...

The modification of the curvature moduli due to surface charges in lipid bilayers is analyzed using the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann equation for the relationship between the charge density and surface potential. An expansion in a small parameter epsilon, which is the ratio of the Debye length and the radius of curvature, is used. At low charge densities, previous results obtained from the Debye...

In this paper we introduce a new scale invariant curvature measure, similarity curvature. We define a similarity curvature space which consists of the set of all possible similarity curvature values. An estimator for the similarity curvature of digital surface points is developed. Experiments and results applying similarity curvature to synthetic data are also presented.

This paper presents a method for estimating curvature values of a surface, which is given only approximatively, e.g., by measured data. The presented method requires estimates of the curvature of curves. These lead, along with the theorems from Euler and Meusnier, to the values of surface curvature. Methods are presented, which converge with the different error order of O(h2) and O(h2n). For th...

Introduced in 1861 [1], a Weingarten surface in the Euclidean three-dimensional space E3 is a surface M, whose mean curvature H and Gaussian curvature K satisfy a non-trivial relation Φ(H, K) = 0. Such a surface was introduced by Weingarten. The class of Weingarten surfaces is remarkably large, and it consists of intriguing surfaces in the Euclidean space: the constant mean curvature surfaces, ...

We present a geometry processing framework that allows direct manipulation or preservation of positional, metric, and curvature constraints anywhere on the surface of a geometric model. Target values for these properties can be specified point-wise or as integrated quantities over curves and surface patches embedded in the shape. For example, the user can draw several curves on the surface and ...

A natural way to measure protein surface curvature is to generate the least squares fitted (LSF) sphere to a surface patch and use the radius as the curvature measure. While the concept is simple, the sphere-fitting problem is not trivial and known means of protein surface curvature measurement use alternative schemes that are arguably less straightforward to interpret. We have developed an app...

The interest, in recent years, in the geometric processing of polygonal meshes, has spawned a whole range of algorithms to estimate curvature properties over smooth polygonal meshes. Being a discrete approximation of a C continuous surface, these methods attempt to estimate the curvature properties of the original surface. The best known methods are quite effective in estimating the total or Ga...

In this paper, we prove that if a quasi-Fuchsian 3-manifold contains a minimal surface whose principle curvature is less than 1, then it admits a foliation such that each leaf is a surface of constant mean curvature. The key method that we use here is volume preserving mean curvature flow.

This paper focuses on the geometric modeling and computational algorithm development of biomolecular structures from two data sources: Protein Data Bank (PDB) and Electron Microscopy Data Bank (EMDB) in the Eulerian (or Cartesian) representation. Molecular surface (MS) contains non-smooth geometric singularities, such as cusps, tips and self-intersecting facets, which often lead to computationa...
