The aim of the experiment was to determine the effect of fluoride on ultrastructural changes in the submandibular gland, the pancreas and the liver. The experimental rats received fluoride in aqueous solutions of sodium fluoride at concentrations of 10.6 NaF/dm3 and 32.0 NaF/dm3. In the ultrastructural examination, mitochondria were most damaged.

Synthetic fluorspar can be produced from waste calcium fluoride slurry settled on dumpsites located near Cracow centre. Synthetic fluorspar exchanges natural raw material used in the metallurgical industry. To obtain grained synthetic fluorspar, calcium fluoride slurry should be calcinated in rotary kilns at temperatures of 900-1100K. Grain size and compression strength strongly depends on calc...

OBJECTIVE In vitro testing of antimicrobial agents is an important tool in the testing hierarchy, and may provide interesting insights into their potential clinical efficacy. Agents with demonstrable in vitro antimicrobial activity may be effective against the same microorganisms in vivo, whereas agents without demonstrable in vitro antimicrobial activity are unlikely to exhibit in vivo antimic...

from Bone 15 (4) 393-399 1994 Sodium fluoride has for more than 2 decades been a commonly used therapeutic agent for established osteoporosis because of a repeatedly documented anabolic effect on trabecular bone mass. Recently, however, three controlled trials have failed to demonstrate any therapeutic advantage of NaF over placebo with respect to vertebral fracture rate. Also, there have been ...

Sodium fluoride induces changes in the heme dl components of both the frozen solution EPR and room temperature optical absorption spectra of oxidized Pseudomolurs cytochrome oxidase. The EPR resonances of the heme dl (iron-chlorin) moiety(ies) appear to undergo a rhombic to axial transition ( g = (2.52, 2.42, 1.73) 4 (2.54,2.54, 1.61)) with increasing concentrations of fluoride (0 3 0.1 M, pH ...

AIM The aim is to assess the effect of desensitizing toothpaste on dentin hypersensitivity. METHODS We searched PubMed, CENTRAL, and Embase on December 20, 2013. RESULTS Out of the 626 articles searched, a total of 31 randomized controlled clinical trials were included. The Standardized mean differences (SMD) for potassium-containing toothpaste (n = 8) was -1.28 (95% Confidence interval (CI...

Osteogenesis imperfecta is a disorder of connective tissue, existing in a severe form (congenita) and a milder form (tarda) both being inherited as an autosomal dominant (McKusick, 1966). Recently Aeschlimann, Grunt, and Crigler (1966) and Bilginturan and Ozsoylu (1966) reported three infants with osteogenesis imperfecta congenita who improved, as regards survival and frequency of spontaneous f...

Dynamic bone scanning with (99m)Tc-labeled diphosphonates and (18)F-labeled sodium fluoride provides functional information sensitive for subtle changes in bone turnover and perfusion, which assists the clinical management of numerous osseous pathologies. This article reviews the mechanisms of uptake of (99m)Tc-labeled diphosphonates and (18)F-sodium fluoride and discusses and compares the perf...

Tooth decay is one of the most common infectious microbiological diseases in world. Dental cavities are now less than it was before water fluoridation put into place. Fluoride toothpastes a high calibre and excellent at preventing tooth decay. therapy administered by specialist helps prevent dental caries. Common fluoride agents include sodium (NaF), monofluorophosphate, stannous fluoride, silv...
