We have found that the deposition of critical optical thin film stacks with silicon dioxide from an electron beam gun is severely limited by the stabilty of the evaporation pattern of the material. We had not obtained satisfactory results in some of the more demanding applications with either solid or granular starting material. The amount of material deposited on a central monitor chip or cont...

Bismuth vanadate is one of most studied materials in the field photocatalysis due to its high photocatalytic activity. The modulation optical properties can be engineered by fabricating photonic crystals which bismuth included. In present study, monoclinic clinobisvanite structure has been included a one-dimensional crystal. layers are alternated with on silicon dioxide doped titanium nanoparti...

objective(s): titanium dioxide (tio2) nanoparticles (nps) are widely used in commercial food additives and cosmetics worldwide. uptake of these nanoparticulate into humans by different routes and may exhibit potential side effects, lags behind the rapid development of nanotechnology. thus, the present study designed to evaluate the toxic effect of mixed rutile and anatase tio2 nps on serum bioc...

We demonstrate self-patterned insulating nanoparticle layers to define local electrical interconnects in thin-film electronic devices. We show this with thin-film silicon tandem solar cells, where we introduce between the two component cells a solution-processed SiO2 nanoparticle layer with local openings to allow for charge transport. Because of its low refractive index, high transparency, and...

This article refers to the paper "A novel method for isolation and recovery of ceramic nanoparticles and metal wear debris from serum lubricants at ultra-low wear rates" (Lal et al., 2016) [1] and describes the concentration and size distribution data of silicon nitride nanoparticles measured using nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA). A NanoSight LM10 instrument was used to capture the video d...

Paper presents a numerical analysis of quantum states and probability ψψ* function of a Si/SiO2 nanostructure in varying electrostatic field. The position of probability function peak xp is traced and the bias, under which it abandons the structure (emission or discharging bias), is determined. Variations of the ground state energy with the bias is also examined. The Poisson Schrödinger model o...

A new synthetic route to mechanochemically produce silicon nanoparticles modified with biocompatible and chromophoric molecular compounds using the Williamson ether synthesis is described. This reaction allows a direct grafting of organic compounds such as phenol, hydroquinone and tetraethylene glycol to the silicon nanoparticle surface in an efficient fashion. Specifically, the formation of (p...

This research demonstrates a simple method for synthesizing titanium dioxide nanoparticle-decorated carbon nanofibers. These nanofibers showed highly efficient degradation of methylene blue under UV light because of the synergistic effects of the large surface-active sites of titanium dioxide nanoparticles and the carbon nanofibers on the photocatalytic properties.

An engineered enhancement in short-circuit current density and energy conversion efficiency in amorphous silicon p-i-n solar cells is achieved via improved transmission of electromagnetic radiation arising from forward scattering by surface plasmon polariton modes in Au nanoparticles deposited above the amorphous silicon film. For a Au nanoparticle density of 3.7 108 cm−2, an 8.1% increase in s...
