Familial Florid cemento-osseous dysplasia is a very uncommon condition. Cemento-osseous dysplasia is totally asymptomatic in many cases, in those conditions, lesions are detected in a radiograph taken for other purposes. In this report, we describe a family in which mother and daughter exhibited clinical, radiographic, and histologic features of florid cemento-osseous dysplasia.
SMARCAL1, a DNA remodeling protein fundamental to genome integrity during replication, is the only gene associated with the developmental disorder Schimke immuno-osseous dysplasia (SIOD). SMARCAL1-deficient cells show collapsed replication forks, S-phase cell cycle arrest, increased chromosomal breaks, hypersensitivity to genotoxic agents, and chromosomal instability. The SMARCAL1 catalytic dom...
Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) provides images without overlapping anatomical structures, which is important for the diagnosis and assessment of florid cemento-osseous dysplasia. This fibro-osseous lesion that affects alveolar process compromising teeth’ pulp vitality usually asymptomatic, bone expansion, cortical disruption, root resorption are uncommon. Due to its avascular characterist...
Introdouction: Fibrous dysplasia is a benign fibro-osseous lesion that affects craniofacial bones including the maxilla and mandible. In the most cases of fibrous dysplasia of facial bones, radiographic findings represent lucent or mixed radiolucent-radiopaque lesion with ill-defined borders and gradual blending of its border with adjacent bone . In this presentation, a patient suffering ...
objective: florid cemento-osseous dysplasia (fcod) is a rare bone lesion that predominantly involves the women’s jaws in middle age. this condition is usually asymptomatic and has a benign course. case: this paper presents a rare case of fcod in a white middle aged woman, which had affected mandible bilaterally and was diagnosed after tooth extraction and treated conservatively. we believed...
Six cases of cemento-osseous dysplasia (COD) of the jaw bone in Jamaicans are reviewed. Five were documented over a 15-year period (1980-1995). These include a case of florid cemento-osseous dysplasia (previously called gigantiform cementoma). Three of the initial cases were histologically diagnosed as gigantiform cementoma. There was no indication in the patient's case file whether these were ...
There are three types of osseous dysplasia: periapical cemental dysplasia (PCD), focal cemento-osseous dysplasia (FCD) and florid osseous dysplasia (FOD). While PCD is often observed in mandibular anterior teeth, FCD mainly affects mandibular posterior teeth. FOD, on the other hand, commonly involves both jaws. FOD is a type of sclerosing disease that is characterised by intense opaque masses a...
