Using click chemistry for linkage, a ruthenium-based metathesis catalyst was efficiently immobilized on nanoporous silica. The heterogenized catalyst exhibited good activity and recyclability for various substrates. An interesting application was demonstrated for a continuous process using a circulating flow reactor.
It has been a concern that the cobalt redox cannot give a good performance for the dye-sensitized solar cells when it is used with ruthenium dyes. The electron dynamics measurements clarified the electron loss processes, and clarified the cause. The result indicated the direct interaction between the ruthenium dyes with the cobalt redox, and it reduced the charge injection from the triplet stat...
Two triethoxysilyl-functionalized N-heterocyclic carbene ligands have been synthesized and used to prepare the corresponding second-generation ruthenium olefin metathesis catalysts. These complexes were then grafted onto silica gel, and the resulting materials were efficient heterogeneous catalysts for a number of metathesis reactions. The solid-supported catalysts were shown to be recyclable o...
Carbon xerogels were synthesised and used as support of ruthenium-based catalysts for the ammonia decomposition reaction. To improve their physical-chemical properties, carbon either activated in dioxide atmosphere (for 1 5 h), or doped with nitrogen via co-precursor method, using urea source. Un-promoted sodium-promoted ruthenium prepared by incipient wetness impregnation. All tested during re...
Light-induced metastable linkage isomers of trans-[Ru(NH(3))(4)Cl(SO(2))]Cl and trans-[Ru(NH(3))(4)(H(2)O)(SO(2))](C(6)H(5)SO(3))(2) have been identified for the first time using photocrystallographic methods. In both linkage isomers the SO(2) ligand is side bound, but the Ru-O and Ru-S distances are considerably longer and almost equal in the trans-H(2)O isomer. DFT calculations confirm that b...
Daniel F. Abbott, Sanjeev Mukerjee, Valery Petrykin, Zdeněk Bastl, Niels Bendtsen Halck, Jan Rossmeisl and Petr Krtil* Nanocrystalline ruthenium dioxide and doped ruthenia of the composition Ru1 xMxO2 (M1⁄4 Co, Ni, Zn) with 0 # x # 0.2 were prepared by the spray-freezing freeze-drying technique. The oxygen reduction activity and selectivity of the prepared materials were evaluated in alkaline m...
