Motion estimation is crucial in domains such as robot vision or image sequence coding. Fast or real time computing is often required but is problematic due to computational complexity. In this paper, an algorithm using multiresolution multigrid Markov random elds will be paralellized. Such realizations have already been studied for ne parallelizations on massively parallel machines. The goal of...

We present a novel method to solve structure and motion problems robustly and incrementally from unordered sets of input images. The proposed method can build large reconstructions without depending on global structure for outlier rejection and starts from the most reliable parts of the data sets. The two main ideas are a strategy to identify reliable subsets of images that have the highest mut...

This master project presents a combined solution for two problems, one: tracking objects in 3D space and estimating their trajectories and second: computing the similarity between previously estimated trajectories and clustering them using the similarities that we just computed. For the first part, trajectories are estimated using an EKF formulation that will provide the 3D trajectory up to a c...

This paper presents a robust algorithm for video sequences stabilization. Motion estimation is achieved using block motion vectors. In this way the same motion estimator of mpeg encoder can be used. The simple use of block motion vectors can give unreliable global motion vectors and so elaborations are done to make the algorithm robust.

This work builds on a suite of studies related to the 'interplay', or lack thereof, for respiratory motion with helical tomotherapy (HT). It helps explain why HT treatments without active motion management had clinical outcomes that matched positive expectations. An analytical calculation is performed to illuminate the frequency range for which interplay-type dose errors could occur. Then, an e...

Algorithms for shape-from-motion simultaneously estimate camera motion and scene structure. When extended to omnidirectional cameras, shape-from-motion algorithms are likely to provide robust motion estimates, in particular, because of the camera’s wide field of view and lack of degenerate motions. In this paper, we present two shapefrom-motion algorithms and a precise calibration technique for...

Oceanographic images obtained from environmental satellites by a wide range of sensors allow characterizing natural phenomena through different physical measurements. For instance Sea Surface Temperature (SST) images, altimetry data and ocean color data can be used for characterizing currents and vortex structures in the ocean. The purpose of this thesis is to derive a relatively complete frame...

A new two-stage approach for robust estimation of large image motion is proposed. We first use template matching to find large image motion up to pixel-level accuracy and then use the differential technique to refine the image motion to subpixel accuracy. Experimental results have shown that the proposed approach can estimate visual motion both robustly and accurately. Indexing terms: Motion es...
