Mushroom exposures are increasing worldwide. The incidence and fatality of mushroom poisoning are reported to be increasing. Several new syndromes in mushroom poisoning have been described. Rhabdomyolytic mushroom poisoning is one of new syndromes. Russula subnigricans mushroom can cause delayed-onset rhabdomyolysis with acute kidney injury in the severely poisoned patient. There are few report...

Rhabdomyolysis is a serious but rare side effect of Lamivudine treatment. Therefore, appropriate biochemical monitoring should be undertaken when it is used in the treatment of hepatitis B. This paper presents a case of Lamivudine-associated rhabdomyolysis in a 31-year-old man with congenital heart disease and hepatitis B. Three days after starting Lamivudine, the patient developed myalgia. Sig...

Trabectedin has been reported to occasionally induce rhabdomyolysis. In the present case, continuation of trabectedin was maintained despite suspected rhabdomyolysis related to trabectedin. Creatinine kinase levels dropped to normal levels. We suggest that continuation of trabectedin despite suspected rhabdomyolysis was safe in this specific patient.

A case of nonfatal Legionnaires' disease was complicated by rhabdomyolysis, myoglobinuria, and acute nonoliguric renal failure. It was not determined whether the rhabdomyolysis was secondary to direct toxic effect of the organism or due to a circulating factor causing muscle necrosis. This case provides additional evidence that rhabdomyolysis with subsequent renal failure may be a serious compl...

Rhabdomyolysis has been reported to be associated with hyperosmolality in diabetic ketoacidosis and non-ketotic hyperosmolal state. Whether the rhabdomyolysis was due to hyperosmolality per se or whether hyperglycaemia also played a role is not clear. We hereby report a case of cranial diabetes insipidus with hypernatraemia and hyperosmolality complicated by rhabdomyolysis. None of the known ri...

Seven cases of rhabdomyolysis in heroin addicts are presented. All patients showed concomitant neurological symptoms suggesting mononeuropathy, incomplete plexus lesions or myelopathy. In most cases rhabdomyolysis occurred without preceding trauma to the muscles (for example tissue compression or coma). Five patients had a history of recently resumed heroin abuse after prolonged abstinence. An ...

BACKGROUND Rhabdomyolysis secondary to quinolones is not frequent. There are scarce reports in the literature associating rhabdomyolysis to levofloxacin. We describe a case of levofloxacin-induced rhabdomyolysis. CASE PRESENTATION A 52-year-old African-American man presented with muscle tightness after taking three doses of levofloxacin. He had elevated creatine kinase without acute kidney in...

Background Rhabdomyolysis with influenza infection is rarely reported in adults. We report here influenza A induced rhabdomyolysis and anterior compartment syndrome (ACS). Case report This case report describes a 43-year-old woman exhibiting influenza A induced rhabdomyolysis. High levels of creatine kinase (97,000 IU/L) and high titer of anti-influenza A virus antibody (H3N2) (320 ×) with ne...

HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins) are widely used to treat hypercholesterolemia. Among the adverse effects associated with these drugs are statin-associated myopathies, ranging from asymptomatic elevation of serum creatine kinase to fatal rhabdomyolysis. Fluvastatin-induced fatal rhabdomyolysis has not been previously reported. We describe here a patient with liver cirrhosis who experience...

Objective: Rhabdomyolysis is an important etiology for developing acute kidney injury (AKI). Among the many varying reasons rhabdomyolysis, electrical seems to be a lesser-known factor. The clinical presentation of rhabdomyolysis usually in form severe and widespread pain, tenderness, weakness muscles dark urine. It characterized by disruption cell integrity myocytes as result damage skeletal p...
