ABSTRACT To characterize host genes required for a compatible interaction, we identified a novel recessive Arabidopsis thaliana mutant, nws1 (no wilt symptoms), that failed to develop wilt symptoms in response to virulent strains of the phytopathogenic bacterium, Ralstonia solanacearum. The absence of wilting in nws1 plants was not correlated with a cell death phenotype or a constitutive expres...
Strain ICMP-8657 was formerly taxonomically classified as Burkholderia glumae and reported to be the producer of an antibacterial pyrazole derivative. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of ICMP-8657, which failed to demonstrate the biosynthetic capacity to produce the stated antibacterial compound, leading to its taxonomic reclassification as Ralstonia pickettii ICMP-8657.
The genome of Ralstonia solanacearum CaRs_Mep, a race 4/biovar 3/phylotype I bacterium causing wilt in small cardamom and other Zingiberaceae plants, was sequenced. Analysis of the 5.7-Mb genome sequence will aid in better understanding of the genetic determinants of host range, host jump, survival, pathogenicity, and virulence of race 4 of R. solanacearum.
Ralstonia pickettii strain DTP0602 utilizes 2,4,6-trichlorophenol as its sole carbon and energy source. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of strain DTP0602, which comprises three chromosomes and no plasmids. We also found that the two had gene clusters responsible for the degradation of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol are located on the 2.9-Mb chromosome 2.
A polyphasic taxonomic study that included DNA-DNA hybridizations, DNA base ratio determinations, 16S rDNA sequence analysis, whole-cell protein and fatty acid analyses, AFLP (amplified fragment length polymorphism) fingerprinting and an extensive biochemical characterization was performed on 10 strains provisionally identified as Alcaligenes faecalis-like bacteria. The six environmental and fo...
Background:Ralstonia spp. is a major pathogenic microbe for tomato, which invades the roots of diverse plant hosts and colonizes xylem vessels causing wilt, especially in tropical, subtropical and warm-temperate regions. Ralstonia spp. produces several virulence factors helping it to invade the plant's natural defense mechanism. Native isolates of Trichoderma spp., Pseudomonas fluorescens and B...
Ralstonia solanacearum is a globally distributed plant pathogen that causes bacterial wilt diseases of many crop hosts, threatening both sustenance farming and industrial agriculture. Here, we present closed genome sequences for the R. solanacearum type strain, K60, and the cool-tolerant potato brown rot strain R. solanacearum UW551, a highly regulated U.S. select agent pathogen.
Ralstonia mannitolilytica, a Gram-negative aerobic bacterium, is an opportunistic human pathogen that is becoming more common in cases of nosocomial infections. We report for the first time the whole-genome sequence analysis of R. mannitolilytica strain MRY14-0246, which carries the intrinsic OXA-443/OXA-22-like and OXA-444/OXA-60-like β-lactamase genes and is resistant to meropenem.
A heterologous metabolism of polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) biosynthesis and degradation was established in Escherichia coli by introducing the Ralstonia eutropha PHA biosynthesis operon along with the R. eutropha intracellular PHA depolymerase gene. By with this metabolically engineered E. coli, enantiomerically pure (R)-3-hydroxybutyric acid (R3HB) could be efficiently produced from glucose. By e...
