Lymphoscintigraphy for sentinel node (SN) localization was performed on a 60-y-old man with a melanoma on his back. Skin contamination occurred as a result of the radiopharmaceutical dose administration. Skin contamination could result in a misinterpretation of the SN location. Careful observation of the procedure avoided a misinterpretation with this study.

Intensive research is currently ongoing in the field of Smart Multi-Aperture Radar Technique (SMART) for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). This work investigates the performance of the SMART SAR system for highresolution wide-swath imaging based on Scan-onReceive (SCORE) algorithm for receive beam steering. SCORE algorithm works under model mismatch conditions in presence of topographic height. A...

We describe a 46-year-old woman who presented at intervals of seven years with osteonecrosis of the outer end of both clavicles. The clinical, radiological features and the appearances of the bone scans are described. Although the condition may be confused with osteolysis there is a dear histological distinction between the two conditions. If the symptoms fail to respond to conservative treatme...

We present a case of a 78 year-old woman who was operated for mass of the left posterior chest. Histologically, the excised tumor was consistent with extraskeletal osteosarcoma. She was referred to the nuclear medicine department for a bone scan. The Tc -HDP scintigraphy exhibited multiple focal round areas of increased tracer uptake in soft tissue. This was proved to be multiple metastasis in ...

A 26-year-old man with a history of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) presented with bone metastasis. Bone scan revealed diffuse skeletal metastases with superscan appearance. Afterward, radiotherapy for bone lesions was arranged and the effects were evaluated. The bone scan flare phenomenon appeared within a short time after radiotherapy. Diffuse bone metastasis, which is common in NPC, were inde...

The role of nuclear medicine diagnostic bone scanning is well established in prostate cancer. This case provides an insight into the specific role that bone scanning plays in monitoring response to hormone therapy and an example of significant global skeletal response. The case highlights the remarkable efficacy of timely hormone therapy in high-grade prostate cancer with widespread bony metast...

The hands of 10 patients with rheumatoid arthritis were investigated with diphosphonate scanning and radiology. Increased uptake of isotope can be associated with some erosions but not all and also reflects other processes more linked to acute inflammatory areas unassociated with the development of erosions. If the latter are the hallmark of active rheumatoid arthritis then bone scans are not.

Purpose Bone scans (BS) are a low-value test for asymptomatic men with low-risk prostate cancer. We performed a quality improvement intervention aimed at reducing BS for these patients. Methods and materials The intervention was a presentation that leveraged the behavioral science concepts of social comparison and normative appeals. Participants were multidisciplinary stakeholders from the Ra...

The diagnosis of acute osteomyelitis is often very difficult during the first 24 to 48 hours. Bone scanning has been a useful adjunct in this diagnosis by demonstrating increased uptake in the area or areas of involvement. Occasionally the pathological area is "cold" on scanning, which may lead to a misdiagnosis. This paper presents three cases demonstrating this unusual finding.
