A Li-sulfur cell with a high discharge capacity of over 1300 mAh g(-1) at a C/10 rate, and a controlled overcharge amount less than 1%, was manufactured by synthesizing a carbon-sulfur nano-composite via a wet milling process, and suppressing polysulfide dissolution using an electrolyte with a highly concentrated lithium salt.

CuInS(2) nanotube (NT) arrays were synthesized on indium tin oxide (ITO) substrates for the first time using a successive ionic layer absorption and reaction (SILAR) process with self-dissolved ZnO nanowire (NW) templates. The p-type CuInS(2) NT array shows promising conversion efficiency in a photoelectrochemical cell with polysulfide electrolyte.

A hydrogen polysulfide mediated aziridine ring-opening reaction was discovered. Based on this reaction, a novel H2S(n)-specific chemosensor (AP) was developed. AP showed high sensitivity and selectivity for H2S(n). Notably, the fluorescent turn-on product (1) exhibited excellent two-photon photophysical properties, a large Stokes shift, and high solid state luminescent efficiency.

The draft genomes of Thermus  tengchongensis YIM 77401 and T. caliditerrae YIM 77777 are 2,562,314 and 2,218,114 bp and encode 2,726 and 2,305 predicted genes, respectively. Gene content and growth experiments demonstrate broad metabolic capacity, including starch hydrolysis, thiosulfate oxidation, arsenite oxidation, incomplete denitrification, and polysulfide reduction.
