OBJECTIVES Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) refers to a series of cycling and relapsing physical, emotion and behavior syndromes that occur in the luteal phase and resolve soon after the onset of menses. Although PMS is widely recognized, its neural mechanism is still unclear. DESIGN To address this question, we measured brain activity for women with PMS and women without PMS (control group) using...
BACKGROUND Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) occurs in women during their reproductive age with a quite negative impact on their daily lives. Women with PMS experience a wide range of physical or psychological symptoms and seek treatment for them. Chinese herb medicine (CHM) is commonly used for PMS and the goal of this study is to investigate the prescription patterns of CHM for PMS by using a natio...
BACKGROUND Registration trials leading to the approval of drugs are paramount in drug development. After approval, continuous efforts are necessary to ensure proper use of the approved drugs. In Japan, post-marketing surveillance (PMS) by drug companies is conducted in accordance with good post-marketing study practice (GPSP). Although the global standard for pharmacovigilance is incorporated i...
BACKGROUND Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is characterized by a cluster of psychological and somatic symptoms during the late luteal phase of the menstrual cycle that disappear after the onset of menses. Behavioral differences in emotional and cognitive processing have been reported in women with PMS, and it is of particular interest whether PMS affects the parallel execution of emotional and cogn...
The current paper reports the production of polymeric micelles (PMs), based on pluronic block-copolymers, as drug carriers, precisely controlling the cellular delivery of drugs with various physico-chemical characteristics. PMs were produced with a microfluidic platform to exploit further control on the size characteristic of the PMs. PMs were designed for the co-delivery of dexamethasone (Dex)...
The posteromedial, serotonin-containing (PMS) neurons are found in the ventral aspect of certain anterior segmental ganglia of adult leeches. With one exception, these cells are unpaired in all the ganglia where they are found. During early embryogenesis in Hirudo medicinalis, however, a bilateral pair of PMS neurons appears and differentiates in each of the 21 segmental ganglia (SG1-SG21). Ove...
BACKGROUND Several studies are conducted on Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS). However, a few herbal surveys exist on the treatment of PMS in Iran. Due to the sedative effects of Melissa officinalis (M. officinalis), this question comes to mind that "can it be used in the treatment of PMS symptoms?" OBJECTIVES The current study aimed to assess the effect of M. officinalis capsule on the intensity o...
It has been hypothesized that some of the irreversible microrheologic abnormalities of sickle red blood cell (RBC) membranes could result from autoxidative perturbation. To model this possibility, we used micromechanical manipulation to examine the static extensional rigidity and inelastic or plastic behavior of normal RBCs exposed to phenazine methosulfate (PMS), an agent that generates supero...
Aim to the paper was to describe our earlier studies of PMs and analyze where it is possible to find such high magnetic fields that the exposure can influence PMs. We tested PMs with a human-shaped phantom at 400kV substation, where the magnetic field source was a shunt reactor.
Asteroseismology of pulsating pre-main sequence (PMS) stars has the potential of testing the validity of current models of PMS structure and evolution. As a first step, a sufficiently large sample of pulsating PMS stars has to be established, which allows to select candidates optimally suited for a detailed asteroseismological analysis based on photometry from space or ground based network data.
