We report a large sebaceous adenoma of the parotid gland. CT showed soft-tissue mass in the lateral portion of the adenoma corresponding to the histologic finding of proliferation of sebaceous glands and fibrous stromal tissue. There were numerous fatty cysts (-65Hu). Some of the cystic component ruptured, and CT demonstrated leaking of fatty material into the parapharyngeal space.

OBJECTIVE To explore the application of parotid R2* values for evaluating Sjögren syndrome (SS). METHODS Twenty-four consecutive SS patients and 24 sex-matched and age-matched healthy volunteers underwent bilateral parotid 3.0 T magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, including blood oxygenation level dependent sequence. Parotid R2* values of SS patients and volunteers were compared. A receiver oper...

BACKGROUND The most common histological diagnosis of bilateral parotid gland neoplasm is Warthin tumor. Bilateral malignant tumors of the parotid gland are extremely rare. METHODS A 60-year-old man presented with a painless mass in the right preauricular area and an MRI scan showed multiple masses in the parotid glands, bilaterally. A standard superficial parotidectomy was performed on the ri...

abstract:assume that y is a banach space such that r(y ) ? 2, where r(.) is garc?a-falset’s coefficient. and x is a banach space which can be continuously embedded in y . we prove that x can be renormed to satisfy the weak fixed point property (w-fpp). on the other hand, assume that k is a scattered compact topological space such that k(!) = ? ; and c(k) is the space of all real continuous ...

A parotid cyst is a well-documented clinical entity. Here we report a case of low-grade mucoepidermoid carcinoma as an occult neoplasm; a rare presentation of a parotid cyst in a 35-year-old female patient who presented with well-defined small cystic swelling of right parotid gland; cytologically consistent with a simple parotid gland cyst. The purpose of this article is to create awareness abo...

Facial nerve palsy with a parotid mass is usually associated with malignant neoplasm of parotid gland. Its occurrence as a complication of parotid abscess is extremely rare. A literature review revealed only 16 cases of facial nerve palsy associated with suppurative parotitis or parotid abscess were reported. We present a case of deep parotid abscess which is complicated by facial nerve dysfunc...

For determination of the dynamics of parotid urea secretion in conscious sheep, a previously standardized transit time ultrasonic flow metering system was used to measure bilateral parotid flow. Six ewes fed for ad libitum consumption were prepared under halothane anesthesia with ultrasonic probes around both parotid ducts; these ducts were also cannulated orally. After probe encapsulation (8 d...

BACKGROUND Lesions of the 'tail' of the parotid gland are difficult to assess clinically and provide a diagnostic dilemma on imaging, especially in the axial plane. Pedunculated lesions of the 'tail' of parotid can be mistaken for an extra parotid lesion. Accurate localisation of these lesions on imaging is essential to assist the clinical diagnosis, to prevent inadequate/incomplete excision an...

The suprahyoid neck extends from the hyoid bone inferiorly to skull base, excluding orbit, sinonasal and oral cavity. is anatomically complex but can be organized into different spaces based on fascial planes. Multiple systems with slightly namings are adapted. As a consensus, 5 principal 2 posterior midline recognized. Each space contains unique contents which subject predictable set of diseas...

Introduction: Xerostomia is the most common complication due to radiation–induced damage to salivary glands in head and neck cancer radiotherapy and it reduces quality of life. Parotid glands are main glands which they are account for secretion of stimulated saliva. Studies have demonstrated that mean tolerance parotid’s radiation dose under 26-30 Gy result in an increase in t...
