A new water-soluble, basic antibiotic has been isolated from the fermentation beers of Streptomyces gilvospiralis sp. nov. The structure of the antibiotic has been deduced from spectral studies and confirmed by chemical degradation to spectinomycin. This structure, 3'-O-methylspectinomycin-3',4'-enol ether has led to the name spenolimycin.

One new sulfated saponin 3β,23,30-trihydroxyurs-20-en-28-al-23-sulfate 3-O-β-D-xylopyranoside (Zygofaboside C; 1) was purified from the water soluble fraction of ethanolic extract of the aerial parts of Zygophyllum fabago Linn. The structure of the compound was elucidated through spectral studies, especially 1Dand 2D-NMR, HR-FAB mass spectrometry, and comparison with literature data.

Oraganometallic derivatives of palladium (o) have been isolated from the displacement reaction of Pd(Pφ3)4 with 1–substituted tetrazoline-5-thione with phenyl, orthotolyl, paratolyl, parachlorophenyl and benzoyl substitution in benzene medium. Most probable tetrahedral structure is assigned on the basic of elemental analysis, electronic, infrared, far infrared and 1H NMR spectral studies.

4,6-O-Ethylidene-N-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)-D-glucopyranosylamine was synthesized and characterized using analytical, spectral and single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The anomeric nature of the saccharide moiety was proposed based on H NMR studies and was confirmed by the crystal structure. The lattice structure of this compound was compared with that of its analogues.
