a graphene oxide-terpyridine conjugate (gotc) based colorimetric and fluorescent nano-chemosensor was synthesized. it showed high selectivity and sensitivity for fe2+ and fe3+ ions in neutral aqueous solution over other metal ions such as li+, na+, ba2+, ca2+, al3+, cd2+, co2+, cu2+, hg2+, mn2+, ni2+, pb2+, zn2+, cr3+ and ag+. in absorption spectra, upon addition of fe2+ or fe3+, the sensor dis...

In this paper, design and performance analysis of a resonance nanosensor for earthquake low frequency geoacoustic waves detection is proposed. The model comprises of a proof mass suspended to the substrate, and a nanobeam attached to the intersection of the proof mass to the substrate. The nanobeam could be cosidered as a clamped-clamped nanoresonator actuated electrostartically. The induced ac...

A novel fluorescent nanosensor has been developed by combining super fluorescence quenching ability of graphene oxide and hybridization chain reaction amplification, which enables highly sensitive detection of base excision repair enzyme activity with a wide dynamic range from 0.0001 to 100 U mL(-1) and a detection limit of 0.00006 U mL(-1).

BACKGROUND Engineering microorganisms in order to improve the metabolite flux needs a detailed knowledge of the concentrations and flux rates of metabolites and metabolic intermediates in vivo. Fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) based genetically encoded nanosensors represent a promising tool for measuring the metabolite levels and corresponding rate changes in live cells. Here, we r...

Cancer proteomics is the manifestation of relevant biological processes in cancer development. Thus, it reflects the activities of tumor cells, host-tumor interactions, and systemic responses to cancer therapy. To understand the causal effects of tumorigenesis or therapeutic intervention, longitudinal studies are greatly needed. However, most of the conventional mouse experiments are unlikely t...

We propose a nanosensor with a biological active part able to identify specific odorants. The biological part should be constituted by olfactory receptors pertaining to the G protein-coupled receptors, the most efficient natural sensors for odorant discrimination. Modeling, design, and experiments performed for proving the concept are reported and discussed.

Coumarin C343 (C(16)H(15)NO(4)), a dye used to enhance the weak chemiluminescence associated with lipid peroxidation, was conjugated to silica nanoparticles and entrapped in a sol-gel matrix to produce a nanosensor capable of enhancing low-level chemiluminescence by approximately 100%.

We report an individually addressable Ti∕GaAs metal-semiconductor hybrid optical nanosensor with positive photoresistance and a sensitivity that increases as the device dimensions shrink. The underlying physics relates to the crossover from ballistic to diffusive transport of the photoinduced carriers and the geometric enhancement of the effect associated with a Schottky-barrier-coupled paralle...
