The pleural mesothelium, derived from the embryonic mesoderm, is formed by a metabolically active monolayer of cells that blanket the chest wall and lungs on the parietal and visceral surfaces, respectively. The pleura and lungs are formed as a result of an intricate relationship between the mesoderm and the endoderm during development. Mesenchymal signaling pathways such as Wnt/B-catenin, Bmp4...

Abstract Background: Mesothelium is composed of a single layer of mesothelial cells attached to a thin basement membrane supported by subserosal connective tissue it plays an important role in homeostasis, wound healing, fluid transport and inflammation. The introduction of peritoneal dialysis (PD) as a modality of renal replacement therapy has provoked much interest in the biology of perito...

Benin cystic mesothelioma of the peritoneum also known as peritoneal inclusion cyst is a rare lesion that develops at the expense of peritoneal mesothelium. There’s an evident lack of data on this disease, more publications are requested in order to better define its clinical and histological features as well as the treatment modalities.

Peritoneal dialysis (PD) leads to structural and functional changes in the peritoneal membrane, endpoint of which is fibrosis. fibrosis diagnosed 50% 80% PD patients within 1 2 years treatment initiation, respectively. A key role development played by mesothelial-mesenchymal transformation, a complex biological process transition from mesothelium mesenchyme. This review summarizes current knowl...

The introduction of Bacillus typhosus into the hanging drop of a tissue culture of the intestine of a chick embryo leads to the rapid vacuolation of the cells of the tissues which comprise the growth of the cultures. The cells of the connective tissue, the endodermal membrane, the mesothelium, and also the clasmatocytes exhibit the ability to ingest Bacillus typhosus in the cultures.
