The fibrous tumors of the pleura are rare primary tumors, accounting for 5% of malignant pleural neoplasms, which generally originate from sub-mesothelial mesenchymal tissue of the visceral pleura. These tumours generally exhibit clinical benign behavior although 12% of solitary fibrous tumors can be malignant and have worse outcomes. These tumors are considered "giant" when the lesion > 15 cm....

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are the most common malignant mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract. The most common sites of metastasis are the liver and the peritoneum, whereas metastasis to soft tissue is rare. The authors present the case of a 78-year-old male with a soft tissue metastasis of a GIST and the current literature is reviewed.

Abstract Gliomas have been classified into molecular (proneural, classical, mesenchymal) and neurodevelopmental (astrocyte, mesenchymal, neural progenitor cell (NPC), oligodendrocyte (OPC)) subtypes describing inter- intra-tumoral heterogeneity; however, the functional outcomes therapeutic implications of these has yet to be fully described. Metabolic reprogramming is a hallmark cancer, maligna...

Glioma is the most common type of brain tumor and according to the 2016 WHO classification, based on invasion level, it is divided into four categories. The most severe and invasive type is grade IV glioma or glioblastoma (GBM), which has a very poor prognosis and a survival rate of only 15 months. However, the molecular pathway of invasion in malignant glioma tumors has not yet been clearly el...

BACKGROUND Glomus tumors are rare mesenchymal tumors originating from glomus bodies in the skin. Glomus tumors of the kidney are rare tumors and only a few cases have been reported in the medical literature. An extensive search revealed a very limited number of primary renal glomus tumors. Although most of these cases were benign in nature, including a case with uncertain diagnosis of malignant...

Abstract Gastrointestinal mesenchymal tumors are a group of tumors originating from the mesenchymal stem cells of the GI tract. Digestive tract Schwannomas are rare mesenchymal tumors which occur most frequently in the stomach. We report a 56-yearold woman who was examined endoscopically for dyspepsia which she had suffered from since 3 years ago. Around gastric antral mass was seen. Surgical ...

OBJECTIVE To determine the relative frequencies, average annual incidences, and patient characteristics of non-basal cell and non-squamous cell malignant neoplasms of the eyelid in a defined geographic population. DESIGN AND SETTING A retrospective study using the Florida Cancer Data System to identify malignant tumors of the eyelid, except for basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas, from 19...

In epithelial cells, alternative splicing of fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (FGFR2) transcripts leads to the expression of the FGFR2(IIIb) isoform, whereas in mesenchymal cells, the same process results in the synthesis of FGFR2(IIIc). Expression of the FGFR2(IIIc) isoform during prostate tumor progression suggests a disruption of the epithelial character of these tumors. To visualize the ...

Extraskeletal mesenchymal chondrosarcoma (EMCS) is a rare malignant soft tissue tumor of chondroprogenitor cell origin. Originally, it was restricted to the bone only but that no longer case. Recent literature reports 20–33% these tumors occur at extraskeletal sites. We report one such case, in which involved anterior abdominal wall muscles and also had large intra- mass covered part peritoneal...

Aim The present study was carried out to know the expression level of survivin, an inhibitor of apoptosis protein with an objective to determine its prognostic importance in cutaneous and subcutaneous tissue tumors of dogs. Materials and Methods Forty cases of canine cutaneous and subcutaneous tissue tumors on histopathological examination revealed various round cell, epithelial, and mesenchy...
