The introduction of corticosteroid therapy in rheumatoid arthritis was followed by reports of fractures, particularly vertebral, occurring in patients receiving such treatment. This paper reviews the incidence and types of fractures occurring in patients with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis who have attended this hospital during the past 12 years, a small number ofwhom have received steroid therapy.
