AIM To evaluate the pitting and crevice corrosion characteristics of stainless steel (SS) and NiTi endodontic files in R-EDTA and NaOCl irrigating solutions. METHODOLOGY The corrosion behaviour of two H-files produced from different SS alloys (Mani, AISI 303 SS, Dentsply Maillefer, AISI 304 SS) and one file produced from NiTi alloy (Maillefer) was determined in R-EDTA and NaOCl irrigating sol...

The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the efficacy of 24% ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) gel and 17% EDTA solution in cleaning dentine walls after root canal instrumentation. Thirty human canine teeth were divided into three groups of 10 teeth each. In Group 1, 1% sodium hypochlorite was used as the irrigating solution; in Group 2, 1% sodium hypochlorite was used with 17% ED...

Isolated human and rabbit corneas were incubated in glutathione bicarbonate Ringer solution (GBR), balanced salt solution (BSS), or 0.9% NaCl solution. The swelling rate of human corneas was 25.5 micron/hr in GBR and significantly increased to 32.7 in BSS and 66.1 in NaCl. The epithelial intracellular potential of human cornea was constant at about 60 mV up to 5 hr of incubation in GBR and decr...

Acute toxicity and pharmacological actions of rosolic acid were studied. Results: ( 1) LD 50 s of rosolic acid on mice were 82 ( 78-87) mg/kg s.c. and 49 (41-58) mg/kg i.p. The animals survived after the oral administration. (2) Significant irritation on the mucosa was not observed. (3) Rosolic acid produced a rise in the blood pressure and a transient depression of respiration in the rabbit. (...
