Inorganic iron is able to form complexes with whole bile and with some bile constituents and these remain soluble at neutral pH. Ascorbic acid does not appear to play a part in this process. The formation of soluble complexes in vivo is an important factor in maintaining intraluminal iron in a form available for absorption, and bile may have some importance in this respect.

formation of non bonded organic layer around inorganic particles like iron sulfide and zeolites, was hypothesized as starting point for one of the possible mechanisms of the origin of life on earth. in this study, the general circumstances needed for creation of such organic layer was investigated. an aliphatic hydrocarbon (hexane), an aromatic hydrocarbon (toluene), an alcohol (n-octanol) and ...

OBJECTIVE Combating iron deficiency in toddlers with iron-fortified food has proved difficult in countries with phytate-rich diets. For this purpose, a new haem iron preparation was developed. The study compared changes in iron status after administration of refried beans with beans fortified with a haem iron preparation or ferrous sulphate (FeSO4). DESIGN In a masked, stratified-randomised i...

Studies of the obligate chemoautotrophic iron bacteria have been largely descriptive in character. This situation is not due to any lack of interest in the physiology and biochemistry of these bacteria, but rather to the inability to grow them in large numbers, and the attendant problem of harvesting cells free from the voluminous precipitate of iron that accompanies growth. Silverman and Lundg...

Background and Aims: Six sigma is the latest version of total quality management. It is quantitative goal for process performance. With increasing demands for improved accuracy and reliability of the results, Six Sigma is gaining increased visibility in the clinical laboratory process outcomes. The aim of study was to evaluate the quality of analytical phase performance in a clinical biochemist...

Abstract In teaching electrochemistry, it is of primary importance to make students always aware the relations between electrochemistry and all non-electrochemical topics, which are taught. The vast majority will not specialise in but they can very much benefit from basics concepts electrochemistry. This paper aimed give suggestions how easily be interrelated topics inorganic, organic, analytic...

Chirality of objects is a problem with important applications in biology, pharmacology, medical cosmetology, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, biochemistry, and other branches of science. In this paper we provide a solution for quantification problem of chirality for three-dimensional objects.

Rewetted, previously drained fens often remain sources rather than sinks for carbon and nutrients. To date, it is poorly understood which soil characteristics stimulate carbon and nutrient mobilization upon rewetting. Here, we assess the hypothesis that a large pool of iron in the soil negatively affects fen restoration success, as flooding-induced iron reduction (Fe3+ to Fe2+) causes a disprop...

elevated atmospheric carbon dioxide and other green house gases have increased the earth temperature in recent century, which it affects all biochemistry cycles in soils. to examine the effect of atmospheric co2 concentration and temperature on n forms in soil solution in a calcareous soil, an experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design with factorial arrangement in the laborator...
