The present case illustrates the unexpected occurrence of intradural chordomas that were simultaneously discovered in cranial and spinal locations. A 63-year-old female presented with weakness in the left upper extremity. The patient visited a local doctor and underwent brain computerized tomography (CT). CT revealed a brain tumor, and she was referred to our hospital. Brain magnetic resonance ...

Description A patient in their 30s presented with a 3-day history of lower back pain, lower limb weakness and new onset of urinary incontinence. The patient had a history of metastatic melanoma, including to brain, for which they had previously been treated with adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Clinical exam revealed a palpable bladder at the umbilicus and reduced power in the lower limb...

A 16-year-old girl had progressive neck pain and weakness in the left hand. MR images showed a dumbbell-shaped spinal tumor with a prominently enhancing intradural component and a minimally enhancing extradural component. Pathologic examination revealed a meningioma with an intradural transitional component and an extradural syncytial component. The tumor showed no significant cystic change or ...

We report a case of a thoracic intradural extramedullary capillary hemangioma. The MR imaging appearance was nonspecific for this lesion, and it could not be distinguished from more common spinal intradural extramedullary lesions. The presence of subtly enlarged abnormal vessels on contrast MR images should, however, lead one to consider a vascular mass and order preoperative spinal arteriography.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Differentiation between paraclinoid and cavernous sinus aneurysms of the internal carotid artery (ICA) is critical when considering treatment options. The purpose of this study was to determine whether contrast-enhanced (CE) 3D constructive interference in steady state (CISS) MR imaging is useful to differentiate between paraclinoid and cavernous sinus aneurysms. MATERI...

Background: Over the past decades, significant progress has been made in our understanding of the basics and techniques of surgical treatment for intradural tumors. However, the management which is most ideal for these lesions has remained a controversial topic. Objectives: To review previous work on the available operative options for intradural tumors with focus on both the advantages and dis...

Intracranial chordomas are typically clival and extradural in location, yet these tumors can obviously invade the dura. However, primary intradural chordomas without local extension is a rare event with approximately 47 cases reported in literature. Furthermore, all intradural chordoma reports appear to be extraventricular in location.[1,2] In addition, through advances in technology and optics...

We report a case of spinal intradural abscess which shows serial changes on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Well-encapsulated, rim-enhancing lesion with mass effect was visualized at ventral side of lumbar spinal canal on 17 days after initial negative MRI, which was thought to be epidural abscess. It was revealed to be intradural in location on operation and successfully treated by drainage ...

We report an extremely unusual iatrogenic infection of the spinal canal with Aspergillus fumigatus that resulted in intradural abscess formation following epidural steroid injection in an immunocompetent young individual. Although the imaging findings of the infection were relatively nonspecific, MR imaging not only allowed for a prompt diagnosis, but also helped in surgical localization to the...
