The present study investigated the isolation and identification of biosurfactant producing bacteria from Iranian oil wells. The biosurfactant production of bacteria isolates was evaluated and confirmed using hemolysis and emulsification tests. The biodegradation of crude oil was studied using GC and HPLC analysis. A total of 45 strains have been isolated. These strains showed less than a 40 mN ...

Autoclaving of crude oil is often used to evaluate the hydrocarbon-degrading abilities of bacteria. This may be potentially useful for bioaugmentation and microbial enhanced oil recovery (MEOR). However, it is not entirely clear if "endogenous" bacteria (e.g., spores) in/on crude oil survive the autoclaving process, or influence subsequent evaluation of the hydrocarbon-degradation abilities of ...

Abstract The clay with high oil content form soil lumps, which is hard for microbes to repair. In this paper, the bioaugmentation and biostimulation technology were applied improve bioremediation effect of content, that modified by local cow dung sandy soil, ecological toxicity after restoration was further analyzed. After 53 days bioremediation, degradation efficiency respect total petroleum h...

abstract khuzestan province accommodates the largest oil-fields with huge petroleum production in iran. oil spills through transportations, oil pumping station and storage tanks are the cause of frequent contamination in land areas, including crop fields, imposing great damages to soil ecology. thus, oil removal from contaminated soil by advance technologies such as bioremediation seems to be o...

Oil spill microcosms experiments were carried out to evaluate the effect of bioemulsificant exopolysaccharide (EPS₂₀₀₃) on quick stimulation of hydrocarbonoclastic bacteria. Early hours of oil spill, were stimulated using an experimental seawater microcosm, supplemented with crude oil and EPS₂₀₀₃ (SW+OIL+EPS₂₀₀₃); this system was monitored for 2 days and compared to control microcosm (only oil-...

Sediments sampled next to the Cíes Islands, a natural reserve of the National Park of Atlantic Islands in Ría de Vigo (Spain), 3 mo after the first tide of fuel from the ‘Prestige’ tanker arrived, were chemically and microbiologically characterized. The chemical analysis of the sediments, using oil fingerprinting techniques, showed the occurrence of fresh ‘Prestige’ fuel oil with a background o...

background petroleum hydrocarbons are mix compounds and divided into four groups: saturates, aromatics, resins and asphalten. among various phases of crude-oil, the alkanes with medium length chain are favorable substrates that rapidly degraded, although short-chain alkanes are very toxic and long-chain alkanes have low solubility in water that reduce its bioavailability and make resistant to b...

The thermophilic Geobacillus sp. strain FW23 was isolated from the Mehsana oil wells in Gujrat, India, during a screening for oil-degrading bacteria. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Geobacillus sp. FW23, which may help reveal the genomic differences between this strain and the earlier reported species of the genus Geobacillus.
